What Are You Playing? Spider-Man, Dragon Quest 11, and Two Point Hospital

Now that Spider-Man is finally in our hands, the GR team has been spending a considerable amount of time swinging through New York, trying to take down Mister Negative and his dumb inverted suit. We’ve also had a few other games on rotation, including the Square JRPG Dragon Quest 11 and the wonderful Two Point Hospital.

But what have you been playing this week? As always, let us know in the comments section below!

Paul Tamburro: Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a policeman can… so I may be disappointed that Spidey is reduced to the NYPD’s errand boy for a significant portion of Insomniac’s take on the Marvel hero, but it’s still a lot of fun swinging around New York and webbing bad guys to buildings.

Alleef Ashaari: I’ve been playing Dragon Quest 11. It manages to maintain almost all of its classic JRPG elements like silent protagonists and turn-based gameplay without becoming stale or obsolete. It’s proud of its traditional roots, and it’s extremely gorgeous to boot. I’m glad to say that this might be one of the finest games, not only in the Dragon Quest franchise but of all time.

David Lozada: As I eagerly await for Nintendo to give us more information on Fire Emblem: Three Houses, I’ve found myself playing Fire Emblem: Awakening on my 3DS. The strategic gameplay is surprisingly just as intuitive and addicting as it was when I first played the title back in 2013, though I have no idea where I am from a narrative standpoint. I can’t believe it’s been over five years since this game has come out. Man, I’m old…

Chris Capel: I just can’t get the hooks of Two Point Hospital out of me. I’m a huge fan of Theme Hospital, a game I’ve been going back to on and off for the last 20 years, and I think I finally don’t have to anymore. This game takes literally everything I loved about Theme Hospital, makes it better, then adds a load of new stuff for good measure. If it only still featured Bloaty Head it’d be my perfect game.

Daryl Baxter: Bayonetta 2 on Switch. It’s as close as possible to playing Devil May Cry on the system, with its fast gameplay and innovative special moves, where you can torture enemies with medieval-style machines. It’s another game where it seems perfect for the Switch, especially when you’re on a daily commute. Mixed with a decent story and that feeling of ‘just one more go’ in every level, I’m hoping we’ll see some info on the third installment in the next Nintendo Direct.
