Xbox Games With Gold and PS Plus Predictions for February 2019

This console generation has seen a lot of hit games release in February. Horizon Zero Dawn, Street Fighter 5, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance all launched during the month, proving that publishers aren’t as fearful of holiday buying fatigue as they used to be. Though plenty of video game fans are still playing the games they received late last year and have titles like Crackdown 3, Jump Force, Anthem, and Metro Exodus to look forward to, Sony and Microsoft could offer more incentive to play on their respective platforms through the free software they’ll be offering on PS Plus and Games with Gold. Without further ado, here are the free games that each company may be willing to offer next month.

February Games with Gold and PS Plus Predictions – The Big Ones

PS Plus

Seeing how the game launched four years ago, next month would be a great time to feature The Order: 1886 in Sony’s PS Plus lineup. This exclusive is set in an alternate history version of London and follows the Knights of the Round Table as they try to protect the city from mythological creatures like werewolves and vampires. It seems likely that The Order: 1886 will be offered on Sony’s service sooner or later, given how it’s frequently discounted in sales for less than $5. The anniversary of its release may be the perfect time to reintroduce it to the community.

Speaking of anniversaries, Far Cry Primal also released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in February. Another Ubisoft game, Steep, is currently being offered on PS Plus, indicating that the company may be willing to continue the goodwill into 2019. Including Primal on either service next month would also make sense given that Far Cry New Dawn launches next month.

Other modern titles celebrating anniversaries in February include Nioh, For Honor, Halo Wars 2, and Resident Evil Revelations 2. Nioh is most likely to appear on PS Plus’ lineup given its sequel’s announcement last year. Should more news about this new entry in the series arrive soon, having the original game on Sony’s service would be a great way to build up hype.

Sony could offer another exclusive like Gravity Rush Remastered, Gravity Rush 2Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, or Knack 2 in February, all of which still haven’t been featured in PS Plus’ North American lineup yet (despite being offered in other regions around the world). The same goes for Gears of War 4 and Halo 5 since both haven’t been on Games with Gold yet.

February Games with Gold and PS Plus Predictions: The Indies

PS Plus

Firewatch released three years ago for PlayStation 4, making this February a good time for it to be featured on either Sony or Microsoft’s respective service. The game tells the story of a fire lookout named Henry and his walkie-talkie exchanges with supervisor Delilah. As the two begin to become close, a series of strange occurrences begin to take place. Firewatch offers an intriguing story that should serve as a good break from Anthem‘s explosions or beating up Naruto in Jump Force. Appearing on either service next month could also build anticipation for developer Campo Santo’s next title, In the Valley of Gods, which is slated to launch sometime later this year.

Unravel also came out in 2016 and is just as poised to be offered on PS Plus or Games with Gold, especially given how there’s a sequel already available for purchase. It’s another calming game starring an anthropomorphic yarn creature appropriately called Yarny. Players have to use the mascot’s threads to navigate across environments, avoid hazards, and solve puzzles. Unravel is a fun game that most audiences can enjoy, making it a good fit for Sony and Microsoft’s respective services.

Night in the Woods and Q*bert Rebooted also released in February, making both eligible for PS Plus or Games with Gold next month. Critically acclaimed indie titles like Fe and The Swords of Ditto are also fair game, given how Celeste is featured in Microsoft’s lineup for January.

No matter what Sony and Microsoft decide to offer on their respective services this February, it’s plain to see that the month is full of noteworthy releases. Highly anticipated online multiplayer shooters like Anthem will finally launch alongside intriguing Japanese fighting games like Jump Force and Dead or Alive 6. The upcoming weeks hold a lot of promise for fans of many different genres. Hopefully each title is as impressive as we hope.
