tell gr called in sick

Tell GR | Have you ever called in sick to play a video game?

Have you ever called in sick to play a video game? When you bunk a day off work or school it feels like you’ve cheated time. You shouldn’t be sitting on your backside doing nothing of value, yet there you are, the master of your own universe, relaxing while all the other shmucks are earning a living.

We asked our editors if they’ve ever called in sick to play a video game, and now it’s your turn to own up and admit what you did. Leave your responses in the comments section below!

“Absolutely”

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “Absolutely, and the fact that my colleagues haven’t genuinely troubles me. I bunked a day off college to play Halo 3 and I have zero regrets. I wouldn’t do it now because I’m a responsible adult who wouldn’t be able to live with the guilt, also because it’s the year 2019 and no ever takes time off from work.”

“I’ve scheduled time off before”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I don’t recall ever calling in sick to play a game. I have scheduled time off for a game release before, though I can’t for the life of me remember what game it was for. I have the privilege of covering most of the games that I want to play for work, so I’ve kinda beat the system where that’s concerned.”

“Never”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “I’ve never skipped work or school for a game. I’d feel far too guilty to enjoy any gaming time earned through dishonest actions. With that said, I have been properly ill and lying in bed playing games has always assisted me in getting better.”

“There was one time I had the poops…”

Michael Leri, features editor: “Despite playing video games for most of my life, I’ve never actually skipped work or school to play a game. I’ve always taken attendance very seriously and hardly missed any school or work days ever. There was one time I had the poops and stayed home from college and nearly beat Mass Effect 3 in like one sitting. It was that or I had the poops during a week off and almost beat the game.”
