There are some games we can retreat to at any time in our lives, and we know they’ll make us feel better. These are our ‘happy place’ games, which elevate our mood no matter what state we’re in and help us put a smile back on our faces.

In today’s Tell GR, the GameRevolution team has outlined their ‘happy place’ games below; now we want to hear from you! Let us know which game is YOUR happy place in the comments section below, and we’ll feature our favorite response in tomorrow’s Tell GR:
Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “My true happy place is and always has been the latest Animal Crossing game, but as I haven’t played New Leaf in a while, until New Horizons releases my happy place is definitely Rocket League. That and Overwatch are the two games I play the most, but whereas Overwatch can really ruin a day if things don’t go my team’s way, Rocket League feels like low-stakes fun.”
Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “My happy place is when I’m starting a new game. As an opening cutscene plays there’s so much potential running through my head. This is especially true when we get a release early. Going into an anticipated game blind is still an experience that makes me smile, and is one of my favorite parts of this job.”
Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “Race The Sun combines chill tunes with an endless runner and I love it. It does get difficult, but the minimalist design and responsive controls make me feel responsible for each mistake, rather than it being a random fail. I probably have 100+ hours spent playing it when relaxing.”
Michael Leri, features editor: “Given how there are times where I want to chuck my TV onto the lawn in Overwatch and Mortal Kombat 11, I’d probably have to go with something less competitive. But thankfully, I have the soothing Crash Team Racing and Spyro remasters. Not only are they a warm, nostalgic blanket, but they are also peaceful titles that are just easy to play. Running through those four games was an utter joy that I could always use more of. Props to Toys For Bob and Vicarious Visions for wonderfully translating the lovely, wholesome worlds from both Insomniac and Naughty Dog.”

Question: “Do you read reviews before buying games?”
“I’m surprised most of the writers seem like they are willing to go in at least part of the time without reviews. Ever since being burned on Duke Nukem Forever, it is obligatory before I buy a game. 60 bucks a pop is a big pill to swallow and it’s a risk I’d rather not take. I think the one exception in recent memory is RE2 Remake because I felt like I knew what I was getting and it happened to be better than I expected. I will not give FF7 Remake the benefit of the doubt though….I need to see that review before I play it since they are fundamentally changing so much about the way it is played. The voices they used for that game already ruined my “internal” voice I believed those characters to have for so long, I almost wish voice acting wasnt used! (Sounds crazy I know)”
