gamerevolution jobs hiring writers editors

We’re Hiring! GameRevolution Needs an Entertainment Editor and Lead Games Writers

GameRevolution is looking for an Entertainment Editor, a Lead News Writer, and a Lead Guides Writer to join our team.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join GR, with the site set to receive a huge makeover this year that will be its most substantial update since it was established way back in 1996. We can’t wait to have new faces join our talented and hard-working team as we collectively take our next giant step forward.

The roles are outlined below, with applications available at the bottom of the post.

NOTE: We are looking to fill these vacancies as soon as possible. The official deadline is May 2nd, though if we find your application an ideal fit for us, we will be looking to start working with you immediately!

Roles

Entertainment Editor ($3,000 per month)

We need a passionate and motivated Entertainment Editor to lead our upcoming Entertainment channel, covering film, TV, and streaming services.

As Entertainment Editor, you will be responsible for expanding our entertainment coverage. This will include daily news and guides related to recently released and upcoming films and series that fit with the GameRevolution audience — think more Marvel and Star Wars than reality TV. You’ll be responsible for staying up-to-date with the world of entertainment, covering the stories that matter to our audience and shaping our entertainment output. The role will include content production and copy-editing, with the Editor responsible for overseeing a small team of entertainment writers.

This is a remote freelance role and we accept applicants from outside the U.S. (though being available at least partially within U.S. working hours is preferred).

Responsibilities include:

  • Publishing daily (four per day) entertainment news stories and guides
  • Writing features and op-eds
  • Working with PR to arrange reviews and interviews
  • Leading a small team of writers
  • Adhering to our style guide and SEO best practices

Lead News Writer (Gaming) ($2,000 per month)

We need a talented writer who will be able to promptly cover breaking stories in the gaming industry and its surrounding community. We want a Lead News Writer who has a great eye for a story our readers will care about, and who will be able to drive engagement on GameRevolution by carefully selecting stories that will get commenters talking and readers sharing our posts on social media.

The Lead News Writer will be tuned into the gaming community, keeping up-to-date with discussions related to the latest releases, and creating daily articles that blend breaking news with stories of interest. We want a writer who can find the “story within a story” — someone who won’t just report that a new game trailer has been released, but who will dissect that trailer for the juiciest information they can find.

This is a remote freelance role and we accept applicants from outside the U.S. (though being available at least partially within U.S. working hours is preferred).

Responsibilities include:

  • Publishing daily (four per day) gaming news stories
  • Researching and discovering original news content
  • Following SEO best practices to maximize your traffic (experience in this area is valued!)
  • Adhering to our style guide

Lead Guides Writer (Gaming) ($2,000 per month)

We need a Lead Guides Writer with SEO experience who can help lead our gaming guides coverage — our most-viewed content category. The Lead Guides Writer will be able to produce both reactive guides based on trending and popular keyphrases, along with producing proactive guides for upcoming games.

The Lead Guides Writer will stay on top of SEO best practices, employing them to maximize their traffic. They will play the latest games and upcoming releases to create tips and walkthroughs, along with regularly monitoring trends.

This is a remote freelance role and we accept applicants from outside the U.S. (though being available at least partially within U.S. working hours is preferred).

Responsibilities include:

  • Publishing guides (four per day though can differ depending on word count) related to highly-searched keywords and keyphrases
  • Monitoring trends regularly for breakout search terms to capitalize on
  • Playing the latest and unreleased video games to mine them for guides material
  • Following SEO best practices
  • Adhering to our style guide
