HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless PS5 and PS4 Review

HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless PS5 and PS4 Review: ‘All PlayStation users should consider this headset’

HYPERX CLOUD FLIGHT WIRELESS REVIEW FOR PS5 AND PS4.

I love reviewing new headsets that sit under the $100 price point. In my experience, that is the budget that most enthusiast gamers are aiming to spend. It’s exciting to see what new features appear in these mid-range options, trickling down from the flagships of the previous year. This review takes aim at a new HyperX Cloud headset for PS5 and PS4. This is the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless review.

Easy does it

It’s always a joy to review a new HyperX headset. This type of product is arguably what the company does best, having gotten the formula down pat. Cloud headsets have always been comfortable and well-balanced on the noggin, but the latest wireless versions are lightning quick and long-lasting, too.

The HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless has many strengths, from the great comfort and stellar sound to the detachable high-quality microphone and 2.4 GHz low-latency connection. However, it’s the colorway of the PlayStation Edition here that stood out to me. The blue cables connecting the earcups to the headband and the blue light emitting from the two HyperX logos are well-suited to the PlayStation platform.

Large dongle

While it’s good to see the usual Cloud features returning in an “if it’s ain’t broke, don’t fix it” way, I will say that I’d like to see the dongle size reduced a little. Sure, it’s easier to lose when made smaller, but the HyperX dongle sticks out of my TV cabinet, what with the sheer scale of the PS5.

There is innovation elsewhere, however, with the microphone now having a mute light. This is extremely helpful when it comes to knowing whether or not your voice is muted. That microphone delivers above-average audio quality, making it great for talking with friends in PlayStation parties. (Audio quality can only be so good on console, as the quality is crushed.)

Just go wireless

HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless PS5 and PS4 Review

Daily driving a wireless headset is a no-brainer nowadays. I’ve already mentioned the 2.4 GHz connection, which ensures low latency, but there’s also the Cloud Flight Wireless’ generous battery life. With a claimed 30 hours of battery life per charge, which does seem accurate in my testing, users should no longer suffer from “battery anxiety.” I set the headset to charge next to my wireless PS5 controllers at the end of the day,  making the process super simple.

HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless PS5 and PS4 Review: The final verdict

HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless PS5 and PS4 Review

At $99.99, the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless narrowly makes it under the $100 price point. It’s a great option that all PS4 and PS5 owners should consider. It combines much of what makes the HyperX Cloud range fan-favorites but gives it a PlayStation theme with the blue and black coloring.

I will say that HyperX is pushing its luck when it comes to naming its headsets. Even for us reviewers, the sheer number of obscure headset names is getting confusing. Hopefully, potential buyers of the new Cloud Flight Wireless for PS5/PS4 track down the correct headset, as it is a super-solid option.
