RIG 600 PRO Review

With the RIG 600 Pro HX (Xbox) and HS (PlayStation) headsets, Nacon looks to deliver a solid gaming audio experience with modern must-have features like a truly wireless connection, lightweight construction for long gaming sessions, and great sound for both the user, via the drivers, and teammates, through the mic. Has Nacon succeeded with its sub-$100 pair of cans? Here’s my review.

Wireless and wireless

Let’s start with my favorite feature: the wireless connectivity. Usually reserved for more premium-priced competitors, it’s great to see dual-wireless trickling down to this $99.99 headset. Users can connect to both a console and mobile device at the same. This makes for a big convenience boost and, thankfully, the setup is super simple.

Sounds familiar in a good way

As for the audio itself, I’m very happy with the tuning of the RIG 600 HX that I reviewed. The 40 mm speakers are the standard nowadays, but it’s good to hear a healthy amount of bass without sending things too muddy. For the price, I think this is a solid-sounding product that is more than good enough for competitive play in games like Call of Duty: Warzone where audio is key. The direction of enemy footsteps and gunfire comes through clearly and I never felt hindered by using this budget set.

Weight right there

I’ve also grown more accustomed to lighter headsets, especially with the marathon-long gaming sessions that I’ve been enjoying lately. The material choices result in a light and comfortable wearing experience. However, the trade-off is that his headset does feel cheap and I do worry about its longevity over time. With that said, it survived me accidentally sitting on them, which is impressive!

When cutting costs to hit the all-important sub-$100 price point, I think most would say that Nacon was right to go with cheaper materials, while keeping the good speakers, microphone, and including dual-wireless support. If you look after your headsets and don’t plan on throwing this pair unprotected in a bag or anything like that, then I think you’ll be safe from causing any accidental damage.

There’s an app

If you’re big into apps that enhance your experience, then you’ll be happy to hear that Nacon has one ready and waiting for iPhone and Android users. However, for the vast majority that will no doubt stick to the stock sound, I’m happy to report that the RIG 600 HX is tuned well out of the box.
