Those on the hunt for a mini PC that packs a mean punch without taking up too much space might find their options limited in 2024. Thankfully, GEEKOM remains firmly in the market and is launching its powerful XT12 Pro. If there was ever a time not to judge a PC by its size, this is it. This little device is geared towards heavy multitaskers who appreciate the space-saving size and portability. Here is my GEEKOM XT12 Pro review.
Small but mighty
The GEEKOM XT12 Pro is loaded with a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, which is still super quick and efficient despite being a couple of years old at this point. There is one SKU available, equipped with the aforementioned i9-12900H, in addition to 32 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 MHz and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. There are a generous number of ports, and the XT12 Pro supports up to four 4K displays simultaneously via HDMI 2.0 or USB 4 Gen3. The mini PC is also equipped with the latest WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, meaning top-end wireless connectivity.
Keeps up with power users
As you’d expect from an i9-equipped rig, the XT12 Pro really shines in its ability to handle just about anything you throw at it, from standard browsing and office apps to more demanding tasks like video editing or coding. I also love that this little thing can be a dedicated streaming PC, which is great for Twitch streamers who want a setup they can hide away or take with them on the go. Despite its powerhouse status, it’s incredibly compact, and it’s easy to mount behind a monitor or tuck away beneath a desk.
Gaming to a point
Though GEEKOM’s high-powered PCs have become better at gaming, there’s only so much that the integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics can do. If you expect this PC to power AAA games at the highest settings, you will likely be disappointed. However, if you’re looking to play competitive games like Counter-Strike 2 or Fortnite, or perhaps enjoy some indie titles, then the XT12 Pro can game to a point.
The use of DDR4 instead of DDR5 will also stand out to spec-heads, and it is a little disappointing to see. With that said, if GEEKOM has needed to cut costs in some areas to bring down the price, then RAM is probably the area to do it.
Final Verdict
Coming in at $699 — or $664 on the official GEEKOM website or Amazon.com with code “GameRXT12Pro” — the GEEKOM XT12 Pro is priced at a premium, which is common for i9-equipped rigs. If you need the power, then this mini PC is one of the better (and only) choices out there. Additionally, with the three-year warranty, there’s peace of mind for those investing for work and enthusiast use. With the power to keep up with all but the most intensive workloads, the XT12 Pro is well worth considering for your next powerful, yet mini, PC.
