Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta Breaks Record With 6.4 Million Players

Tom Clancy's The Division is set to have a huge debut following this last weekend's beta. Ubisoft says that more than 6.4 million gamers played during the event, making it the single biggest new IP beta in history. This large figure was across all three supported platforms.

Ubisoft revealed some statistics regarding the beta:

On average, players spent an average of 5 hours as activated sleeper agents journeying through The Division’s open world. With 2 average hours spent in the Dark Zone and almost 50% of players going rogue, you demonstrated your love for The Dark Zone, The Division’s unique and challenging player-versus-player environment. Fun fact: over 63 309 800 contaminated items were successfully extracted out of the Dark Zone.

The Division's PvE/PvP hybrid open-world design has earned the game a lot of attention over the past couple months. Players have found working together with comrades to take down foes, acquiring loot, exploring New York's beautiful environments, and engaging in a wide variety of co-op and competitive mission types to be a breath of fresh air. It could end up being one of 2016's most successful releases as a result.

The Division will release on March 8th for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
