Modern Warfare 2 beta

Despite Microsoft’s Activision Acquisition, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta Arrives First on PS4 and PS5

With Microsoft’s impending acquisition of Call of Duty publisher Activision, a Modern Warfare 2 beta first on Xbox seemed inevitable. However, it seems as though the deal is continuing with PlayStation.

Call of Duty Beta remains first on PS4 and PS5

Picked up by CharlieIntel, files in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s PC version show a Modern Warfare 2 beta coming first to PS4 and PS5. “Welcome to the new era of Call of Duty. Pre-order the Cross-Gen Bundle for Early Access to the Open Beta — first on PS4 and PS5,” the file read. There was no doubt Call of Duty would remain on PlayStation for a while, but many doubted a Modern Warfare 2 beta would debut on PS4 and PS5.

Call of Duty has had a marketing deal for many years. Modern Warfare 2 (the original) was the first siding with Xbox. That deal involved all DLC releasing a month early on Xbox until 2015 when PlayStation took over with Black Ops 3. Sony has had the marketing deal ever since but has not included getting DLC early in recent games.

The rest of the files included information on all editions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In October, fans will be able to purchase the standard, cross-gen, or vault edition. While not much has been disclosed regarding content in the standard and cross-gen version, the files reveal content packaged with the vault edition. Vanguard’s files show 50 tier skips for a battle pass, Red Team 141 Operator pack for the Ghost, Soap, Price, and Farah operators. Meanwhile, 10 hours of double XP and 10 hours of double weapon XP are included, plus a Ghost legacy pack.

In other news, Activision has announced a release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . Nintendo still has nothing to announce on the Wii and DSi shop outages. Meanwhile, DICE has announced no new content is coming for Hazard Zone in Battlefield 2042.
