Stardew Valley Has Surpassed 500,000 Units Sold On Steam Alone

Stardew Valley has become one of the biggest success stories of 2016. It exploded onto Steam just one month ago, quickly building a positive reputation with PC gamers as fans of Harvest Moon flooded in to see what the $14.99 game was all about.

At present, the game stands with an 86 Metascore, overwhelmingly positive user reviews on Steam, and a #2 spot on Steam's best-sellers. So, it may come as little surprise to those who have been keeping up with Stardew Valley that it's selling quickly.

As of today, SteamSpy reports that Stardew Valley has broken the 500,000 units sold mark. This only accounts for sales on Steam, meaning that the game has gone well beyond that mark with sales on GOG and other digital retailers.

While speaking to the creator of Stardew Valley, Eric Barone, we learned that the game was indeed created in its entirety by him, and began as a small project intended for Xbox Live. However, it blossomed into a four+ year project that became larger and more ambitious as time went on.

Stardew Valley currently stands as the most well received by users indie game of 2016 with heavy competition arriving later this year in the form of Cuphead, No Man's Sky, and Below.
