Dead by Daylight has officially sold four million copies, two years after it launched, according to an announcement by developers Behaviour Digital. In celebration of the achievement, the studio is releasing all-new content for the game including a new chapter called Curtain Call, an in-game store, and new tutorials.
Senior Vice-President at Behaviour Digital Stephen Mulrooney said in a statement: “Behaviour Digital is incredibly proud to celebrate the two milestones for Dead by Daylight: the game’s second-year anniversary, as well as the fact that it has surpassed 4 million copies sold across all platforms. This outstanding performance reflects the ability of our teams to continually receive player feedback to refine their experience and offer new high-quality content.”
The new chapter, Curtain Call, will feature a new killer called The Clown, a new survivor named Kate Denson, and a new map called Campbell’s Chapel. The Clown uses a concoction called The Afterpiece Tonic to intoxicate and capture his victims. Kate Denson is a singer who awakens in the game’s new map, Campbell’s Chapel. Curtain Call is already available for purchase for $6.99 on PC via Steam and will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game soon.
A new in-game store and economy are also being introduced in Dead by Daylight, which gives players more ways to purchase content. Two new currencies called Iridescent Shards and Auric Cells are being introduced and both can be used to unlock characters and skins. The former can be earned via a new leveling system being introduced into the game while the latter can be purchased in packs via real money.
The studio is also making it easier for newcomers to get into the game by introducing two new tutorials, one for the Survivor experience and another for the Killer experience. The tutorials introduce players to the game’s basic mechanics as well as provide a way for players to experience and learn the skills needed to play the game.
