Ubisoft has announced a new milestone achieved by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launch sales recently hit a record franchise high for the current gaming generation on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Ubisoft stated that Odyssey is having the “franchise’s best launch-week performance of this console generation.” This means that Odyssey’s first-week sales were better than the first-week sales of Blag Flag, Unity, Syndicate, Origins, Liberation HD, and The Ezio Collection.
The developer and publisher confirmed the new milestone in a press release earlier today. Since the game’s initial launch, it has received a positive reception from players and critics alike, including from us at Game Revolution. We gave the game a rating of 3.5 out of five in our review. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launch sales have done well in a season filled with major releases like Mega Man 11, Super Mario Party, and more. In fact, it managed to score second place on game charts in countries like the UK and Japan.
According to Ubisoft Sales and Marketing Senior Vice President Geoffroy Sardin, the company has future content planned for the game, ensuring that players will keep playing it for a long time. This was originally mentioned by Ubisoft EMEA executive director Alain Corre during E3 2018, who said that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will employ a games-as-a-service model. The post-launch content for the game was revealed last month, including episodic story expansions and a remastered copy of Assassin’s Creed 3.
