Iwata: Miiverse For the 3DS “Will Be Huge”

Drawings as far as the eye can see are ready to inhabit your 3DS, and supposedly it's a big deal.

While speaking to Nikkei, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata shared his excitement for Miiverse and its future plan to branch out to other platforms, especially the 3DS. He said:

Once the Miiverse hits the 3DS, it will be huge.

He also took the opportunity to address that makes Miiverse a killer app despite there being several alternatives with larger communities. He said:

The primary use of Twitter and Facebook is not gaming, but a means of communication. Although I don’t use either of them, if I did, I imagine I’d use it to talk about my outings and vacations to people who aren’t exactly video game enthusiasts. I don’t think my former classmates would care to hear about my new Mario Kart record and so on.

Iwata has a point. Miiverse has been out for two months on the Wii U and has been a safe haven for gamers who want to talk about games without the nuances of poorly moderated forums and unfocused social media. You can go on Miiverse and see helpful posts about games you're playing in addition to related chat. Truthfully, it's something virtually every gamer could find value in, and although Iwata is most excited about the 3DS version, it's the PC version that might have the greatest impact.

No release date has been set for its publication on PC and the 3DS, but it is planned to arrive sometime this year.
