Splatoon 3 Customization

Splatoon 3 Customization Detailed Including New Clothes, Hairstyles, and More

The Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct gave us an absolute ink shower of information, including loads of new customization options that include new clothes, hairstyles, emotes, and plenty more. When both the Inklings and the Octolings are being savvy about their fashion, it’s important to look your best.

Changing the appearance of an Inkling or Octoling

Splatoon 3

There are three main ways to customize the appearance of an Inkling or Octoling: headgear, clothing, and shoes. Gear can be purchased from the shops in Splatsville. There’s Naut Couture which sells headgear like hats, glasses, and masks. Man-o’-Wardrobe is where you’ll find a large selection of tops to customize your clothing, while Crush Station has every type of shoe you could possibly want… except for fluffy slippers. I didn’t see those.

While appearance is important, the gear also has abilities that you need to bear in mind, like run speed up that increases running speed, or intensify action that improves the squid roll and squid surge moves. Those who want a particular item of clothing but aren’t that keen on its ability can head to Murch in town to add more abilities to gear. Gear combinations can be saved as Fits so players can change entire outfits in a flash.

Splatoon 3 customization isn’t just limited to player characters either. The Locker Room in the Lobby is where players find their own locker as well as those of players they’ve recently met. Players can put any of their acquired weapons, gear, and other items into their locker to create a space to match their personality. Locker colors can be changed and the stickers can be plastered over the door, and players can grab items to customize their locker from Hotlantis.

New to Splatoon 3 are splashtags, which are nameplates that can be customized with banners, badges, and titles. Emotes performed when players win battles can be changed too. These are all available through the in-game catalog that’s also found at Hotlantis. The catalogs also include seasonal items of clothing, and points to purchase items can be earned in battle. Once the game has been launched, new catalogs will be released every three months for a period of two years.

Finally, the game will be getting a companion SplatNet 3 app through the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app. As well as stat tracking features, players can use the app to get exclusive gear that isn’t sold in the in-game shops. The app will be available at the game launch on September 9.

In other news, the Splatoon 3 stage list has been revealed and more will be added to the game post-launch. Elsewhere, a Skyrim mod has added a Shadow of Mordor-style nemesis system to the game so players can have a Mudcrab rival.
