Four more games are joining the Xbox Game Pass library this month and will be available to subscribers of the monthly-fee, on-demand games service very soon. The Xbox Game Pass January 2019 roster will bring both We Happy Few and The Lego Movie: Videogame to its library tomorrow, January 17, with Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Saints Row: The Third becoming available a week later on January 24.
Earlier this month, Ark: Survival Evolved, Just Cause 3, and the first episode of Life is Strange 2 also joined the Xbox Game Pass library. The new titles were then teased yesterday in a Twitter post from the Xbox Game Pass account, staging that the games were being ‘leaked’ from their email.
In addition, five more games will be removed from the Xbox Game Pass January 2019 library, in addition to the four already announced. Dead Rising 3, Electronic Super Joy, Roundabout, Steredenn, and Stacking are all set to leave the library at the end of January.
We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of slightly terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful delusion, and was initially banned in Australia for its depiction of drug use. The game held great potential after a successful Kickstarter campaign, but was “besieged with technical problems” as described in our review.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a third-person action game set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy universe, winning GOTY at the Game Developers Choice Awards. Famous for its characterful enemies created by the ‘Nemesis’ system of randomly generated orcs, the game’s combat and environment design were praised in our review.
The Xbox Game Pass was massively successful in 2018, and was praised in Xbox’s Year-In-Review for increasing subscribers’ total play time by 20%. Based on comments made by the Microsoft CEO, the Xbox Game Pass might also become available on the PC this year, bringing a library of more than 100 games to the PC.
