As if Death Stranding needed more celebrity tie-ins to prove how long Kojima’s contact list is, Sony announced Khalid, Major Lazer, and CHVRCHES will be featured in the Death Stranding: Timefall album. Death Stranding: Timefall (Original Music from the World of Death Stranding), as the album is officially titled, was announced via its inclusion in the Death Stranding Collector’s Edition, Special Edition, and Digital Deluxe Edition.
Sony announced the celebrity music contributors in a press release, via Japanese publication Entertainment Week. According to a Google Chrome translation of the press release, Khalid and Major Lazer are collaborating on a Death Stranding song called “Trigger,” while CHVRCHES will produce yet-unnamed music.

As clarified in a PlayStation FAQ, The Death Stranding: Timefall album contains original music not found in the game. Instead, the album’s songs are merely inspired by Hideo Kojima’s strange, magical world, meant as more of a companion piece to Death Stranding than a soundtrack (though Sony mentioned it is planning on releasing the soundtrack, as well). Players who purchase one of the aforementioned Death Stranding editions will receive a voucher code for the Death Stranding: Timefall album, and the album will also be available as a physical release and “across various music streaming services” at some point.
Khalid, Major Lazer, and CHVRCHES join a huge list of other celebrities associated with Death Stranding, including Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), famed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, Linsay Wagner (Bionic Woman), and others. There’s even a cameo from The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, and Kojima said at Gamescom 2019 that more cameos are to come. The game’s Japanese voice-over work was finished just earlier this month, most likely because the script had to be reworked to make sure the Japanese lines fit the English-speaking actors’ mouth movements. Kojima announced at the beginning of August that Death Stranding devs were in “crunch time” to complete the game, which releases exclusively on PS4 on November 8.
