A known lover of film, Hideo Kojima has recently posted images of himself posing with Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage. It’s hard to say what it relates to, but it could mean the Metal Gear Solid director may be working with the film star on something.
Could it be Death Stranding 2?
Obviously, one of the first things many will be wondering is if Cage will make an appearance in Death Stranding 2. So far, all we have is a couple of pictures from Twitter of Kojima with the Con-Air, Face/Off and, most recently, Renfield actor, both of whom are stood in front of Lumens.
For those who don’t know, Ludens is essentially the mascot for Kojima Productions, the studio behind Death Stranding. However, even though Ludens doesn’t feature in the game, it has become rather synonymous with the 2019 title, so many may be thinking that Nic Cage could possibly appear in the sequel.
Whatever the outcome, it’s not surprising that Hideo Kojima would be working with one of the biggest names in Hollywood. His passion for film has been evident in his work from early on, in which he approaches video game development in the same way a director approaches a movie.
It’s also interesting to note that the first Death Stranding game features a number of high-profile celebrities. Most notable is Norman Reedus, who also worked with the director on the canceled horror game P.T., which would have represented a new entry in the long-dormant Silent Hill franchise.
Other names who appeared in DS include Mads Mikkelsen, known for playing Kaecilius in Doctor Strange, and voice actor extraordinaire Troy Baker, who played Joel in The Last of Us and Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite.
Other famous names who made appearances include horror director Guillermo del Toro and ex-Simpsons writer-cum-TV host Conan O’Brien.
While it’s too early to say for certain, these images from Hideo Kojima could signify that the auteur will be working with Nicolas Cage. What the specifics are regarding that is open to interpretation at this stage.
