New World are there different classes and races

New World: Are there different classes and races?

Most MMOs have players select a class and race before the game begins. So, players are eager to see what the options are in New World. After all, which race and class a user picks influences the entirety of their time with the game. However, New World does things a bit differently, and we’ll discuss the details below.

Does New World have different classes?

New World Human Only

New World does not have classes. However, a player can still specialize in a particular area.

In this game, each weapon type has its own proficiency that can be leveled up by using it. In turn, each weapon’s attack strength is influenced by a character’s core attributes. So, when a character’s main level goes up, they can raise these attributes, which increases a weapon type’s damage. Then, players can level up the weapon types of their choice to gain skills and buffs for those weapons.

While New World doesn’t lock characters into a class, players have the freedom to specialize as much or as little as they want. So, for example, it’s still possible to be a dedicated mage or archer by the endgame if so desired.

Does New World have different races?

New World does not have any races other than humans. Despite the conquistador aesthetic, Aeternum Island isn’t full of natives being subjugated by European colonists. The island is incredibly inhospitable, and only non-sentient species can be found amongst the flora and fauna present there.

Since the game is set in the Age of Exploration in a world based on our own, humans are the only species that have attained sentience. So, while there are fantasy elements like magic outside of Aeternum Island, we can assume that Earth is much the same as it was during our history.

So, character creation is limited to humans. Amazon Games might add other species later, but it would take a shift in the lore to do that.
