There are a bunch of windmills to activate in Dying Light 2. However, the Old Villedor Master Windmill stands above them all and is one of the most prominent landmarks in the city. Since it dwarfs the others, one would think that finding out a way to activate it would give players a massive reward. We’ll take a look at what players can do at this colossal installation below.
Can you activate the Old Villedor Master Windmill in Dying Light 2?
Players can’t activate the Old Villedor Master Windmill in Dying Light 2 because it’s already running. While most of these installations can be turned on and then aligned with the survivors or Peacekeepers, the largest of them already has an owner.
The Old Villedor Master Windmill carries this description in the game:
“The Master Windmill was the magnum opus of Nightrunner architects as they tried to restore power to the people of the city. It took almost a year to build, but once operational, it powered most of Old Villedor. It was seized by Peacekeepers after the Nightrunners’ dissolution and has been used to power the Main Terminal in Quarry End since then.”
If players visit it while free-roaming, it might just seem like a great vantage point (and one of the best places to use the binoculars). There’s nothing going on here (not even an Easter egg), and climbing to the top doesn’t net an item or achievement.
However, the Master Windmill is part of a quest if players decide to side with survivors. The rebels assault it and blow it up in a bid to cut off power to the Peacekeepers. Otherwise, it’s just a big cool windmill.
Just because the biggest windmill is a bust doesn’t mean players shouldn’t visit the rest of them, though (and unlock the fast travel points). Each of the other ones gives access to shops, quests, and a safe area which is invaluable for those who really want to dig in and explore all of Villedor’s secrets.
