Nintendo Switch Sports Miis

Nintendo Switch Sports will include Miis after all

A lot of fans hoping to see Nintendo Switch Sports Miis will be pleased to find out that the classic Nintendo customizable avatars will feature in the upcoming latest iteration of the Wii Sports series, just as they did in the original games. While Nintendo’s newest sports title was revealed at the Nintendo Direct livestream show and didn’t show off if the feature was supported, a fan spotted that there is indeed Nintendo Switch Sports Mii support.

Nintendo Switch Sports Mii support is confirmed

It has seemingly been confirmed that Nintendo Switch Sports will definitely have support for Nintendo’s customizable Miis when it launches. While neither the game’s announcement trailer nor website shows any Miis or whether Miis are playable in the various sports, the short slice of gameplay shown during the Nintendo Direct event last night — which was separate from the trailer — seemed to confirm Mii support.

As pointed out on Twitter by @tomathius, the gameplay segment begins by briefly showing Mii characters based on Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi and Yoshiaki Koizumi. While they have a few extra limbs over the original Wii Sports versions, since they seem to have the same body types as the default characters, the distinct Mii faces are clearly visible on top — just like the Mii Fighters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It’s highly unlikely this was done just for the Nintendo Direct show, so fans could probably take this as confirmation that players can indeed play with Miis in Nintendo Switch Sports.

In further Nintendo news, the Nintendo Direct brought back Mario Kart and Fire Emblem but failed to show several strongly-rumored games, here’s whether or not Nintendo Switch Sports is likely to get missing games such as Baseball and Boxing. Beyond that, our reviewer called Pokemon Legends Arceus “a step in the right direction for Pokemon” but has “significant compromises.” Check out that review right here.
