Nintendo has just announced that a Mario Kart 8 console bundle will be coming to North America on May 30th. In addition, the company has shed light on a few other exciting nuggets of karting goodness, including the game's online features, as well as new items, racers, and more.
The aforementioned Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Set bundle will be priced at $329.99 and will include a Wii U Deluxe Set system, a copy of the game, a red Wii Wheel, and a red Mario Wiimote.
Nintendo is also running a promotion for those who pick up the game. Gamers who register the title with Club Nintendo by the end of July will be able to get a free digital game on the eShop. The selection of games is quite impressive, including hit titles like New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
With regard to online multiplayer, the game supports up to 12-player races and features a lobby chat system that allows gamers to communicate via text or the GamePad microphone while they wait for the race to begin. Public and private tournaments can be created as well. Mario Kart TV was also detailed, which allows users to upload their highlight racing reels to Miiverse and, believe it or not, YouTube.
On top of that, two new items for the game have been announced, including the the Super Horn, which "blasts away everything in the vicinity, including other drivers, Red Shells and even blue Spiny Shells." The other new item is the Crazy Eight, which serves up "a swirl of eight different items that lucky players can use one by one."
Finally, Nintendo announced two new characters that will join the game's massive roster. Pink Gold Peach is set to serve as a nice accompaniment to Metal Mario, and Baby Rosalina will fit in nicely amongst the cast of cute Baby racers.
