Crafting a jack o’ lantern requires that you gather three items together:
- Gather 1 pumpkin – Any biome that has grass can spawn pumpkins, which are usually found in groups around trees.
- Create 1 shear – Take two iron ingots, which you can craft from iron ore blocks and wood in a furnace, and put them into the 3×3 crafting grid to make a pair or shears.
- Craft 1 torch – Combine a stick and a chunk of charcoal.
- Make a Carved Pumpkin – Right-click a pumpkin with a pair of shears to craft a Carved Pumpkin. A spooky face will appear on the block.
- Create a Jack o’ Lantern – Combine a Carved Pumpkin and a torch.
The jack o’ lantern emits a lot of light, which is great for scaring off monsters at night, and can be hung on a wall or a roof. In fact, jack o’ lanterns are one of the easiest ways to light up a room, in case you want to make a slime farm or something like that.
