The Mortal Kombat 1 Brutal Ways riddle in Invasions seems apt for such a bloody franchise. But like the rest of the Invasion puzzles, this one is not straightforward. Here’s how to solve the MK1 Brutal Ways challenge in the Shang Tsung’s Laboratory map in Invasions.
How to solve the MK1 Brutal Ways Invasions puzzle
To solve the Brutal Ways Invasion puzzle in Invasions, players need to win the match and finish it off with a Brutality. There are many Brutalities in the game and any of them from any character should work just fine.
Every character has a suite of their own Brutalities, and, unlike Fatalities, they have to unlocked first. Each fighter gets a new Brutality every few levels in their Mastery track, which can be viewed by pressing the button on the main menu near your character portrait.
Brutalities almost always have some sort of trick associated with them, often requiring that players end the round with a certain move and press a few buttons at the same time. For example, Sindel’s Scream Queen Brutality requires that you end the match with a back throw and press the down button three times right after the throw connects.
All characters also have one universal Brutality that’s unlocked from the start. It is the uppercut Brutality that just requires that you hold the uppercut punch button (Triangle on PS5, Y on Xbox Series X|S, and X on Nintendo Switch) when you end the match with an uppercut. This is a carryover from Mortal Kombat 11, as every combatant also had this Brutality.
If you have correctly performed a Brutality, you will be able go behind the barrier and open the chest after the match. Rewards are often randomized in Invasions, but this should have a consumable, piece of gear, skin, or palette to use.
