FFXIV 5006 Error and World is Currently Full Issue | Final Fantasy 14 Lobby server connection has encountered an error fix

A large number of players have been encountering a 5006 error when trying to login to FFXIV. This has resulted in many getting thrown back to desktop after receiving a message stating, “The lobby server connection has encountered an error,” in Final Fantasy 14. Those able to actually log on are also getting a, “World is currently full,” message and being forced into a queue.

The 5006 error seems to be caused when you try to login and the servers are are too busy process your request. According to Square Enix, this is due to DDoS attacks that are currently targeting the North American data center. Due to the nature of this issue, there is no direct fix other than to wait for the server congestion to clear up. The important part is that there’s nothing wrong with your computer or internet; the issue is all on Square Enix’s end.

It’s likely that these attacks are due to the early access launch of FFXIV: Shadowbringers today. With tons of players logging on for their first taste of the new expansion, the game was ripe for trolls.

As of right now, when you try and enter the game and choose a world, you’ll likely encounter error 5006 and the message that the lobby server connection has encountered an error. There is a slim chance you’ll get in and get to the screen where you can select your character, but here is where you’ll probably get hung. Your character’s model likely won’t load and you’ll just get question marks for their details. If you manage to get past that you’ll probably get the ,”World is currently full,” message as the servers are slammed by the rush of players trying to log on.
