Well, here we go! If anybody sees even the slightest error, or would just like me to add a section, just tell me! I have my e-mail below so that you guys can tell me, but be sure to put in the subject box, ‘I have a request for your KH2 Guide’.
skyler_ocon@sbcglobal.net
And at the beginning of this guide, I would just like to say, if you would like to use any part of this, YOU MUST HAVE MY PERMISSION. And if any of you guys are leading a small and struggling video game site, just send me a message, and I’ll give you permission. I just have to see the site before I let you, so send the link to the site also.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This synthesis guide is based on the order in which the items appear in the moogle shops. It will list the monsters that I have found are most likely to drop it. Next to the monster names will be the area that you can find the monsters in. Under the monster names will be a strategy that I found useful to find the monsters and get the items. Ex:
Frost Shard
Item droppers: Hook Bat (The Land of Dragons)
Lance Soldier (Beast Castle)
Seven Words: The cave in The Land of Dragons. The cave is right outside of the encampment, so land your Gummi Ship in that area, and head out. The cave is crawling with Hook Bats, so even though they don’t drop them very often, you can get about three of four every time you go in the cave.
So… that’s pretty much a sample from my synthesis item list. That’s all I really have to say in this section.
Now that you know how to use my guide, I hope it serves you well!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| III. Synthesis Items List |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazing Shard
Item Droppers: Hammer Frame (Beasts Castle)
Minute Bomb (Mt. Olympus)
How to get Blazing Shards: Go to Beasts castle and find any hammer frames. Around one out of every ten Hammer Frames will drop a blazing shard. It is also a good idea to level up your drive forms while your hunting for your shard. (It’s a good idea to start in the main hallway then head to the west wing)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazing Stone
Item Droppers: Cannon Gun (Port Royal)
Tornado Step (Mt. Olympus)
Blazing Stones have low drop rates, so finding these will take time. Or maybe just getting a large quantity of these will take a long time. If your reading this prior to having to go through all the worlds a second time, go to Port Royal. Before the 1000 heartless battle, Port Royal is covered in Cannon Guns. If you have already done the 1000 heartless battle, then go to Mt. Olympus. Go to the Cave of the Dead: Passage, and take the skateboard to speed to the heart. In this area, there are tons of Tornado Steps.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazing Gem
Item Droppers: Fat Bandit (Agrabah)
Fiery Globe (Agrabah)
This one won’t be near as hard as finding those pesky Blazing stones, the two enemies that drop blazing gems practically make-up the heartless population of Agrabah. Go to an area where there is enemies, and rake up those Blazing Gems.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazing Crystal
Item Droppers: Crescendo (Mt. Olympus)
Crimson Jazz (Beast Castle)
If you ever find yourself in Beasts Castle, you’ll have no problem finding the Blazing Crystal. Beasts Castle is covered in Crimson Jazz who give these things out like a copy of Kingdom Hearts 1 (I kid Square Enix). Also, you find scattered Crescendo in many of the worlds before the 1000 heartless battle, so if your reading this prior to the 1000 heartless battle, look in every world. But if your reading this after, the only place I’ve managed to find Crescendo in is Mt. Olympus.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frost Shard
Item droppers: Hook Bat (The Land of Dragons) Lance Soldier (Beast Castle)
Seven Words: The cave in The Land of Dragons. The cave is right outside of the village, so land your Gummi Ship in that area, and head out. The cave is crawling with Hook Bats, so even though they don’t drop them very often, you can get one or two Frost Shards every time you go in the cave.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frost Stone
Item droppers: Aeroplane (Timeless River)
Hot Rod (Timeless River)
The most common place to find the Frost Stone dropping enemies is Timeless River. Now everybody is thinking ‘Yes! A synthesis material that isn’t in impossible to find!’ Wrong, this item has a low drop rate, so you’ll have to make several sweeps through the Black and White World before you have a large amount of Frost Stones. One upside is that this is a good area for up-grading your Valor and Wisdom Forms.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frost Gem
Item Droppers: Fortuneteller (Agrabah)
Icy Cube (Agrabah)
Now then, this is a very rare item, a real pain to get. Luckily, the two enemies are not only most commonly found in the same world (Agrabah), but they are found in large quantities. Land either in the treasure room in the cave of wonders, or land outside of the city gates. If you used the city gate landing point, head toward the cave of wonders. Right outside it’s entrance, you’ll find tons of icy cubes, so take out the frozen desert creatures (how do they live in the desert?) in any way you’d like. After that, make your way through the cave, you’ll see a few Fortunetellers right away. If you take the treasure room strategy, just do the same thing, but backwards. THIS IS A GOOD CHANCE TO LEVEL UP YOUR DRIVE FORMS!!! There are tons of enemies in the cave, and tons of save spots. If you don’t know the instant drive gauge fill, go to the EXP. Tricks section. Also, another way to get these is to do the chasm of challenges over and over.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frost Crystal
Item Droppers: Living Bone (Pride Lands)
This took me forever to find! Living Bone are only found in Pride Lands and hardly ever drop Frost Crystals. Sadly, there isn’t a strategy to harvest the Frost Crystals because Living Bones are spread out across The Pride Land. So for everybody who is getting really annoyed right now, I fell your pain.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lightning Shard
Item droppers: Bolt Tower
Rapid Thruster (Pride Lands)
For those who don’t know the trick already, once you beat Pride Lands for the second time, go back to the Peak of Pride Rock, and you’ll find (literally) hundreds of Rapid Thrusters. For those who haven’t done this already, there are also many Rapid Thrusters in the Land of Dragons, at the mountain peak (don’t remember what that area is called), but I’m not sure when those appear. To read more, go to the EXP. Tricks section.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lightning Stone
Item droppers: Driller Mole (Mt. Olympus)
Emerald Blues
Another low-level synthesis item that’s hard to find. But who cares, I found some. The main strategy to find these is to go to Mt. Olympus, and land in the Cave of the Dead: Entrance. Then head up toward Hades chamber, and you’ll find plenty Driller Moles along the way. The only bad part is, as I said before, the stone is hard to find, the Driller Mole hardly ever drops any.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lightning Gem
Item droppers: Armored Night (Radiant Garden)
Surveillance Robot (Radiant Garden)
Simple, but for those who haven’t done the 1000 heartless battle, sorry this strategy won’t work. After the 1000 heartless battle, head down toward the Great Maw, and there will be a few Armored Nights there, so take em’ out!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lightning Crystal
Item droppers: Devastator (Space Paranoids)
Strafer (Space Paranoids)
The best way to get these is to go to Space Paranoids, enter in the Pit Cell. After you do that, you’ll find a few Strafer waiting for you, you’ll also find a few Devastators along the way. You’ll find two cannon guns (drop blazing stone), and if you head toward the dataspace, you’ll find two more cannon guns. Inside the dataspace, there are a lot of Devastators.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucid Shard
Item Droppers: Rabid Dog (Mt. Olympus)
Trick Ghost (Halloween Town)
Can you say annoying? Cause Lucid Shards are an impossible hunt unless you can go to Yuletide Hill in Halloween Town. Basically just land there, or an area near there, and head down to Candy Cane Lane, you’ll find quite a few Trick Ghosts. For an alternate strategy, you can go to Mt. Olympus yet again, and hunt Rabid Dogs (But they’re only there before the 1000 heartless battle).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucid Stone
Item Droppers: Graveyard (Halloween Town)
Toy Soldier (Halloween Town)
Wight Knight (Halloween Town)
Go anywhere with monsters in Halloween Town excluding the Christmas area. You’ll find plenty of these monsters throughout.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucid Gem
Item Droppers: Bookmaster (Radiant Garden)
Magnum Loader
Just head to Radiant Garden (Hallow Bastion) and you’ll find tons of Bookmasters if your willing to look. But the best part to look is in front of Merlin’s House because there are four Bookmasters in front of there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucid Crystal
Item Droppers: Neoshadow (Every World)
These things are everywhere, look for them in any world (Check Drive info). But, the best place that I found to find them, was at the city area of The World That Never Was. There’s literally and almost endless number of these. It took me 2 HOURS to get rid of all of them in one area of the city. Sorta creepy how long it takes… and why I took that long to do it…
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Power Shard
Item Droppers: Creeper Plant (Halloween Town)
Large Body (Every World at One point in the game)
Same strategy as the Lucid Shard applies. Creeper Plants show up with Trick Ghosts, so if you’ve already looked Lucid Shards, you may have picked up a few power shards.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Power Stone
Item Droppers: Luna Bandit (Agrabah)
Silver Rock
Go to Agrabah’s bazaar area, it’s covered in Luna Bandits, Take em’ out any way you please.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Power Gem
Item Droppers: Aerial Knocker (Pride Lands)
Shaman (Pride Lands)
To the Pride Lands! Aerial Knocker and Shaman cover it, so you’ll have no problem. I recommend heading through the savannah toward the Oasis.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Power Crystal
Item Droppers: Morning Star (Radiant Garden)
Easy to find, these enemies are all over the world of Kingdom Hearts. Personally, I’d recommend going to Radiant Garden (Hallow Bastion) and head from the Postern to the Crystal Fissure. This is also an excellent time to upgrade your drives (See drive info).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Shard
Item Droppers: Shadow (Every World)
Soldier (Every World at one point in the game)
Easiest synth object to get in the game, go to The World That Never Was and go to the Dark City area. The shadows never stop spawning for a really long time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Stone
Item Droppers: Assault Rider (The Land of Dragons)
Nightwalker
Go to The Land of Dragons and start at the highest spawn point you can go to. Make sure you visit the cave first, you’ll find plenty of Assault Riders. Head down toward the Emperors palace from there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Gem
Item Droppers: Gargoyle Night (Beast Castle)
Gargoyle Warrior (Beast Castle)
Go to Beast’s Castle and look around Beast and Belle’s rooms. There are plenty of Gargoyles there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Crystal
Item Droppers: Air Pirate (The Land of Dragons)
Go to the Bamboo Grove in The Land of Dragons. From there fight your way toward the Checkpoint, and take a right to go to the Emperors Palace. There are tons of Air Pirates along the way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dense Shard
Item Droppers: Creeper (The World That Never Was)
Dragoon (The World That Never Was)
For this one land in the Twilight’s View and make your way up toward the Proof of Existance. Along the way, you’ll find Samurai, Assassin, Sniper, and Berserker, so this is a great chance to get other synth materials.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dense Stone
Item Droppers: Sniper (The World That Never Was)
You can find these on your Dense Shard hunt, when you head out of the Proof of Existance, and you’ll end up in an area (I’m not sure what it’s called) where there are four Snipers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dense Gem
Item Droppers: Samurai (The World That Never Was)
Go to Yin Sid’s Tower in Twilight Town, and head up the first Staircase, you’ll find four Samurai (See drive info). Also, another way to do that is to go through The World That Never Was (Check Dense Shard).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dense Crystal
Item Droppers: Berserker (The World That Never Was)
Start off in Proof of Existence in The World That Never Was. Then head down to Naught’s Skyway, you’ll find six berserkers. Use reaction Commands and Thundaga/Magnega to take em’ out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twilight Shard
Item Droppers: Dusk (Yin Sid’s Tower(Twilight Town))
Dusk are found quite commonly in Yin Sid’s Tower. You can get about 4-5 twilight shards per sweep up and down the staircase.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twilight Stone
Item Droppers: Dancer (Yin Sid’s Tower(Twilight Town))
The second staircase at Yin Sid’s has four dancers on it. Save us all the time and go crazy with magnega and thudara. You should be able to get a few of these in no time!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twilight Gem
Item Droppers: Assassin
This took me forever to find who dropped these! Twilight Gems are (unfortunately) only dropped by one enemy which can only be found in one spot in the game. Go to the Hall of Empty Melodies, which right off the main entrance of the Proof of Existence
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twilight Crystal
Item Droppers: Sorcerer
Well, now that you’ve just gotten your Twilight Gems, and should be right next to proof of existence, you shouldn’t expect moving halfway across the game for just one item (for once)! Just head into the Proof of Existance, and head the opposite direction of Proof of Existence, and bam! You’re at a huge staircase thingy. One of the platforms has four Sorcerers. Rince repeat and now you have about 50 Twilight Crystals!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| End Section |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There you have it! And for those wondering where the bright and energy materials went, I’m not planning to put those in here. Don’t ask me why. I’m just to lazy to I guess.

Guard Recipe: Found during the Expotition minigame at the 100 Acre Wood. The
chest containing the pages that unlock the Spooky Cave part of
the 100 Acre Wood is in the Land of Dragons, in the Emperor's
throne room. It becomes available during your second visit to
Mulan's world.
King Recipe: Found during your second visit to Port Royal, available after
the first fight with the Grim Reaper. It's in the Seadrift
Graveyard.
Mega-Recipe: In Beast's Castle, right in his room.
Moon Recipe: At the Restoration Site in Hollow Bastion, though you have
until after the Demyx fight and the 1,000 Heartless battle and
such. It's in a small side hall that only opens up after these
events, making it one of two treasures in the game that is
actually difficult to find.
Queen Recipe: In the Emperor's throne room at the Land of Dragons. It's
available during the second visit.
Recovery Recipe: Found in the Mountain Trail during your first visit to the
Land of Dragons.
Skill Recipe: Found in Hollow Bastion during your second visit, in Ansem's
study.
Star Recipe: Found at Disney Castle, in the courtyard.
Style Recipe: Found in the last area of the 100 Acre Wood. The pages for
unlocking it are found in Agrabah, in the ruins that you go
into during your second visit.
Ultimate Recipe: During your final visit to Twilight Town, while you're
unlocking the pathway to the World That Never Was, you'll
gain access to the underground computer area. The recipe is in
a chest just before the pod room. You CAN come back and get
this if you miss it
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| End Section |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, there’s all the recipe’s for you guys. And all of the Free Development items. So then, now it’time for the next leg of my guide thingy… the Item Hunting Equipment!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| V. Item Hunting |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, when your item collecting, I would suggest wearing the following equipment
Sora: Sweet Memories. Received at the second to last page of the 100 Acre Wood. It’s name is ‘The Expotition’
Donald: Meteor Staff. Found in a treasure chest at Port Royal, at the Ship Graveyard. Then go to the Seadrift Keep. I think that you can find the chest at the top level, but I’m not sure
Goofy: Genji Sheild. Go to Mt. Olympus and own the Titan Tournament!
Also, along the quest, Sora, Donald, and Goofy will each receive a lucky lucky skill along the quest.
Sora: If you chose the sword as Roxas in Twilight Town, you will get it at lv. 41
If you chose the shield, you will get it at lv. 53
If you chose the staff, you will get it at lv. 99
Donald: Learned after Sora fights the Nobody’s in front of the mansion during you last visit to Twilight Town.
Goofy: When your in the Pride Lands and you fight Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed before fighting Scar. You’ll know it’s definitely this battle if they’re trying to kill Timon and Pumba.
You also get the Lucky Ring right after you win the Pain and Panic Cup at Olympus Coliseum. Equip it to either Sora, Donald, or Goofy.
As for item hunting strategies, you can go look at the synthesis items list for each individual material
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| End Section |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that’s what I would suggest equipping before you start your item hunting. Next, we have one of the most ANNOYING monsters to find in the game. The only reason I’m putting the monster in here is because it’s you sole source for Orichalcum once you’ve opened every chest in the game. That’s right, it’s the Bulky Vendor!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| V. Bulky Vendor |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite popular belief, Bulky Vendors aren’t some hyper-powerful monster that will kill you if you get within five feet of them. They are actually something that resembles a gumball machine that doesn’t attack you. All you need to know how to do is press action commands and learn when you should use them.
HP | Reaction Command | Prize
------------------------------------------------------------
100-75% | Capsule Prize | Bright Shard
74-50% | Rare Capsule | Bright Stone
49-25% | Limited Capsule | Bright Gem
24-1% | Prime Capsule | Bright Crystal
Well… that answers when to use the action command then! In the Action Command box, it will say one of the four. Capsule Prize, Rare Capsule, Limited Capsule, and Prime Capsule. And you also get certain amounts of HP, MP, and Munny orbs depending on what capsule you get
Also, the Bulky Vendor may drop Orichalcum once in a while. There isn’t any specific method, but I have the best luck when it is close to 1% HP. It won’t always happen though, so you shouldn’t get your hopes up. Here are the area’s that I’ve found that you can find Bulky vendors in.
Land of Dragons | Checkpoint
Beast's Castle | West Hall
Agrabah | Bazaar
Halloween Town | Candy Cane Lane
Olympus Coliseum | Cave of the Dead: Entrance
Halloween Town and Olympus both spawn two Bulky Vendors, so switch between the two areas if your orichalcum hunting. Also, Try to avoid hitting the Carousal in Halloween Town because if you do, heartless will spawn making it hard for you to damage Bulky Vendors.

Well, hope that little bit of Bulky Vendor helped you. The Bulky Vendor is kind of pointless if you ask me though… But at least it helps you get orichalcum!
Miscellaneous help, away!

| VI. Miscellaneous help |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes… this section will be broken down into three sub-section. Quick lv. Up, Drive help, and Summon help.
__________________________________________________________
_____________/ A. Quick lv. Up
Well, the easiest way is to head straight for the pride lands. Then go straight to the top of Pride Rock, and you’ll find tons of Aerial Knockers. Just keep on using a combination of keyblade attacks, thundara, and magnega and you should be fine!
Another thing I found was to cycle through The World That Never Was from the bottom of the castle area and back to the top. Or you can do that at Yin Sid’s Tower (found in Twilight Town).

_____________/ B. Drive Help
At the beginning of this sub-section, I would like to say the instant drive gauge regeneration trick. If your using a drive form, and it’s almost up, head straight for the nearest save spot and go to the world map. Then, go back to the area that you were (Or any other area or world) and if done correctly, you’ll have your drive gauge maxed out.
For Valor Form AND Wisdom Form, go to the area right before the castle at Hallow Bastion/Radiant Garden, and Cycle all the Way down to the Crystal Fissure. If you don’t have enough drive to get down to the Crystal Fissure without Drive, go to Merlin’s House instead.
For Master Form, go to the Land of Dragons, and go crazy all over the castle area. You should be able to get Master Form lv. 7 in no time!
For Final Form, go up and down Yin Sid’s Tower (Twilight Town), or go up and down the castle are of The World That Never Was.
Now then… you remember that little thing that said check drive info in parenthesis up there by the Lucid Crystal? Well, this has to do with the neoshadows. I’ve found that the most likely place for the rare Anti-Form to come up is when you’re near these monsters. I have heard that it’s completely random and the ‘rumor’ about Anti-Form happening more near neoshadows isn’t true, but hey. It keeps on happening to me.
There are quite a few disadvantages to anti-form though. Number one, you take a lot more damage during Anti-Form. Number two, instead of taking a pre-set chunk out of your drive gauge, it depletes your whole meter. Number three, Anti-Form is a very inconsistent happening. NEVER and I repeat, NEVER count on Anti-Form to come out for you no matter how much you pray. Your best bet would be to use Final Form and hope for the best.
The good thing? Anti-Form is hyper powerful, and Sora has to be 3x as fast.
But, I do have another theory about Anti-Form. It takes a certain amount of drive uses for Anti-Form to happen. How did I come up with this? When fighting the Organization member in the Hall of Empty Melodies at The World That Never Was, I lucked out during what I think is the second hardest boss battle in the game (the hardest is against Sephie) and got Anti-Form instead of Master Form. But, I died. Then, I used Master Form AGAIN during the next battle against the Organization member, and I got Anti-Form AGAIN. Then…I died again. The same thing kept on happening until I defeated the Organization member. So, the probability of having to use Forms a lot to get Anti-Form is a major possibility.

_____________/ C. Summon Help
You can level up any Summon pretty much anywhere in Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden. I don’t really have any strategies for this, but the limit attacks do help a lot.
Also, while doing the limit with Stitch, that really helps you win the Goddess of Faith tournaments in Olympus. Just make sure you can button mash!
