Bungie has just dropped their big blowout for Destiny 2 Year 2, and its Forsaken expansion. Bringing with it new modes, a new story, raids, new weapons, and a brand-new race, the Scorn. So. Much. Content. In fact, there’s so much content, it might be hard to know what has and hasn’t been revealed in the Forsaken DLC including, you guessed it, a release date.
Destiny 2 Forsaken: The Story and Cayde’s Prison
One of the first allusions to campaign-based Forsaken DLC content includes a reference to Cayde’s own version of a supermax, a prison holding some of the galaxy’s most nefarious evildoers under lock and key. The problem? They’ve had a prison break. The worst of the worst are currently on the loose, and you’ve got to hunt them down. Bungie also announced during their live stream that more details will come about the story at E3 2018.
Destiny 2 Forsaken: Release Date
The latest expansion will be hitting PC and consoles on September 4, 2018.
Destiny 2 Forsaken: A New Race
Yes, a new race is coming. Inhabiting the new location, Tangled Shores, the Scorn are the latest cannon fodder that will be aiming to avoid getting both barrels from Guardians the world over. Also revealed were Barons, the top dogs of the Scorn who will have their own mini-missions based around their capture in the brand-new Baron Hunt mode.
Destiny 2 Forsaken: New Modes, Weapons, and Raids
One of the top-tier highlights from the Destiny 2 Year 2 reveal is Gambit. A weird fusion of PvE and PvP, it sees two teams facing off against waves of enemies in separate arenas, while also banking ‘currency’ from downed enemies. That currency can be used to hinder the opposing team’s wave by shutting down their currency bank. But what’s the PvP option, I hear you cry? One member of each team can invade the other team’s arena and wreak havoc, which sounds amazing.
That’s not all: there’s a new location, The Dreaming City, which encapsulates the best hidden mysteries of Destiny 2 lore and its beautiful landscapes, and has enveloped it in a new Raid that, according to Bungie, will have a dynamic landscape which will change week-to-week.
Additionally, a new weapon is coming to Destiny 2 with a bow and arrow being added to a Guardian’s repertoire. This will feed into the introduction of Collections, which will fuel completionists’ desire everywhere, by listing every possible weapon and armor set you can collect in the entire game.
Additional expansions, Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra, have also been announced for Winter 2018, Spring 2019 and Summer 2019 respectively.
