Secrets
Courses
Every course is unique. There's always a different way to play it, and newcomers don't know how to play it. Well, I can help you with that by giving you pointers.
South Alps: There are many secret paths which allow you to get Eagles and higher, however, they can only be accessed with a powerful shot, so a powerful hitter does well here, plus, there's not much to fear on the course.
Nakagawa Public: It's really a simple course. Just make sure you have some power to access the greens in two. There's also a lot of hidden hazards, so proceed with caution.
Autumn Pagoda: The rough is a fairly common factor on the course, so I recommend that you have someone to account for that (Rio, Julie, or Frau Ada). Par fives aren't as important in this course, as you have places which will help the weak hitters get more yards.
Central Park Square: You'll see yourself using power shots a lot, so I recommend that you use someone with more power shots than usual (Malachy, Shu, Holly).
Olive Coast: Make sure you avoid the houses and other types of machinery, as it's fairly common, and getting caught up in it will make you lose a lot of yards, or you may get an OB.
Michinoku Pass: Again, there's a lot of places to lose a lot of ground on this course, so please proceed with caution. You might want some rough insurance as it's somewhat common.
Golden Desert: Instead of picking people that are good in the Bunker, invest in control, as if you do, you won't have to face one. The rough is more active then you think, too.
Gamelan Resort: Make sure you use a lot of power, as there are a couple of OBs to wander into should you not hit hard enough. Rough is also a common factor here.
Royal & Links: Some of the bunkers here are notoriously big, so make sure your character has a high angled shot, such as Malachy or Chad (who are also good in the bunkers). Good control is recommended on here as well, because wrong moves end up adding strokes.
El Andes: Once again, bunkers are rather large, so someone good at those is recommended. Make sure you know your power, as the elevation of the holes goes haywire.
Dino Park: Be prepared. Dino Park is just a crazy, one of a kind course. If you don't know what you're doing, you can kiss your butt goodbye, as this course will walk all over you if you don't prepare.
Fortress Yard: The rough is notoriously common here, so Rio, Julie, or Frau Ada will excel here. Also make sure you know your stuff, as this course screams difficulties.

New/Old Characters
Remember the old characters? The ones in the last game? Well, guess what? In this version, you can STILL play as your favorite classic characters. BUT!! You need to unlock them all. Not one of them comes at a free price. Let's see how to get the characters:
Mika: Mika is on hole 12 of Nagawaka Golf Course. Mika is a bit tricky. It has something to do with chip ins. I suggest you get a chip in on hole 11, and she might appear near the waterfront. Mika is very similar to Carly, but Mika has a stronger drive.
Rio: Rio is in Central Park Square on hole 6, in a cherry tree near the green. On hole 5, bogey that hole, then interact with the tree. Rio will fall out of the tree, and he'll become your "acquaintance". Rio is fairly balanced and good in the rough.
Alia: The easiest one to get, Alia is in a dandelion field on hole 14, but she's shrunken. If you have the Magic Broom equipped, she'll revert back to normal and become friends with you. Alia is very similar to Alice, without the weaknesses (but she does poorly in the rough).
Shu: Shu is in Michinoku Pass on hole 15, near the green. Talk to him using a female character, he'll get up and become your friend. Shu is nicely balanced and does well in bunkers.
Julie: Julie is in Autumn Pagoda on hole 17, practicing martial arts behind the green. Talk to her using Mifune, and she'll gladly join you. Julie is fairly balanced, and she does well in the rough.
CJ: CJ is in Olive Coast hole 4, examining a tree. Talk to him using a pretty girl, and he'll join you. CJ has incredible control, but he's a sitting duck in the rough.
Patricia: Patricia is on the beach of the first hole of the Gamelan Island Resort. Equip the swimsuit item (BTW it is rare) and interact with her. She'll quickly become friends with you. Patricia is fairly balanced, but shares the same weaknesses as Alice: Weaknesses to the bunker and the rain.
Logan: Logan is in Golden Desert on hole 13, looking around behind the arm of the Sphinx. If you have the Big Air club for experts, talk to him and he'll join you. If you love power, use Logan. Combined with the Big Air Club, Logan can drive like Tiger Woods. However, he has poor control over the ball (and bad control on approach shots).
Holly: Holly is in Dino Park around the green of hole 6, dressed as a tree. Talk to her using Malachy and you'll be reunited. Holly makes precise shots, and is an expert with spins, but she is weak with curves and bad in bunkers.
Roger: Roger is hiding in El Andes on hole 17. Talk to the rock using Frau Ada and he'll join you. Roger is a bit of a double edged sword, having great stats, but weaknesses to rain and approaches.
