If you want to host it on your site just let me know. Failure to inform me will result in an ass beating, so save my foot the hassle and the inconvenience of your butt getting kicked and take my advice. This walkthrough was made entirely by me and cannot be copied without my permission. ********************************************************************** CONTENT I am making this walkthrough because I think a walkthrough should be made for each game. This walkthrough is to help out anybody that needs help or information with the game. I understand most people think that there is no point for having a walkthrough for this type of game, I beg to differ. Most high level golfers might not find much need for a guide like this, but I think the majority of people will. ********************************************************************** VERSION HISTORY 02/28/09 Version 2.1. This is my fourth. I have an item breakdown for Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and I have a challenge walkthrough for Final Fantasy VII. Initial equipment, No accessories, No materia challenge :). I also made a Hot Shots Golf 3: Out of Bounds walkthrough. 2) Why did you decide to do it? I did it for the little guy. Seriously though, this walkthrough probably will not help out the high level golfers except for the information. Hopefully this guide will help the low to mid golfers improve their game to the next level. 3) I am having some trouble unlocking loading screens. I am missing some pictures. How did you get them? You need to go into training mode. It seems like the only way to get the second screenshot of the courses. 4) Does anything happen when you (at least) birdie every hole? No, nothing happens. When I finally did it, I was expecting a parade in my name but alas none was to be found. 5) While playing a single player challenge match, some computer players have a score that is really good. What's up with that? Generally, there are a few computer players that will start off the game very strong. Over the course of the tournament, their score will fall down the scoreboard. Apparently each hole has a number of AI opponents do well and others poorly, but it is not always the same opponent. Think of it as flipping a coin nine times in a row. Heads is a good score, tails is a bad score. Only two chances exist of getting nine heads or nine tails. Most will be four of one, five of the other. Apply that to computer opponents and you'll see it's unlikely for any one of them to score well over an entire challenge tournament. 6) What is power recovery impact mode? Power recovery impact mode can get your power shot back when you use it. If you hit the Triangle button the moment your club hits the ball, you get your power shot back. This ability is available once you unlock loyalty level five. 7) I am having problems getting flag ball shot, any hints? Try a rising shot. Sometimes I perform a rising shot and I end up hitting the flag. That gets you two actions for one shot. 8) It says in your FAQ that you can get expert level clubs in Platinum challenge level and the like, but I haven't seen them. All the items I have listed and showed where I got them from is only to give you a reference point. The items are random and I highly doubt you will win them in the order I received them. If anything I am showing you what items you can actually win. 9) What is the GUTS Camera that I have unlocked? You know what, that is a really good question. If I had to take a stab at what I think it is, I would say it is an additional camera angle. If anybody knows the answer to this, let me know, and I will give you credit for it. 10) I am having real trouble learning how to deal with slope and wondered if you could give me any help or tips on how to deal with it? Good question. Actually slope is probably the most overlooked part of the game because people will look at the yardage to the pin and the lie but not the slope. In easiest terms, the slope refers to how the ball is sitting. On a flat surface there is no slope. But the slope can face left and right which will angle the ball when it is hit (I am sure you must have noticed this when you play). You will need to compensate by aiming more to the left and right depending on the degree of the ball tilt. You learn through practice how much to compensate. Now the other tilt is up and down. This tilt effects the trajectory of the ball. If you are sitting on an uphill slope. The ball will have more loft in the air which in turn makes the wind have more effect on the ball. The opposite holds true if the ball is on a downhill slope. The ball will have less loft in the air which makes the wind have less effect. One of the biggest obstacles to learn how to overcome is compensating for heavy wind, in a bad lie, while on a slope. This happens quite often and learning how to handle these elements all together is key to becoming a great player. But like I said before, you will not be perfect overnight. It will take practice. Just so you know too, sometimes you will be on a left handed slope and the wind will be blowing to the right. If that is the case, sometimes you can hit the ball normally because the slope will cause the ball to go to the left, but the wind will push it back right. Just remember to look at all the factors: wind, tilt, slope, lie...everything. 11) What is the most important stat? Power? I would say power is pretty important in the game. Obviously it can give you the advantage of reaching somewhere other stats cannot. Yet power is not anywhere near as important as control. Control is the most important stat in the game. If your control stat is not good, the ball can land six feet to the right of where you were aiming even though you had perfect impact. You do have control over your control, no pun intended. Try to at least make sure you have an "A" in control. When you have high control, you will notice shots going more to the location you intended. 12) I equip different clothes and items but my stats do not increase. Your stats do increase; it just does not show on the screen. I tested it out with impact. Gloria at level 11 impact has two dots where your impact is okay and at level 12 impact you have three. When I equipped an item that boosted impact while she was at level 11 it showed three dots of impact. So even though it does not show on the screen, it will boost your stats. Weird, huh? 13) Do you have any advice on to handle the wind? This wasn't a question, but Li Dong sent me an email with this information and I thought it was very helpful. Wind tip from my personal playing experiences: If the wind is blowing parallel to the direction where you aim your shot, it's hard to predict how strong the wind is. Just aim to the direction which is vertical to the wind, press the Down on the D-Pad to toss some grass in the air, then you can predict the strength of the wind. (When you are playing online tournament, you should do this very quick, and aim back to be ready to take a shot.) Credit to Li Dong for that information 14) What is reflection cup and green? Reflection means bouncing off an object (ex. mountain) and landing on the green or in the hole. If you reflect off an object and land on the green, you get 20 points. If you reflect off an object and land in the hole, you get 100 points. Credit to mcpy1212 for that information. 15) I hit a really long putt but for some reason in my stats it is very short? What happened? I think what the problem is the putt is in meters. I know it says feet in the stats page but it was never converted from meters. I sank a 90+ foot putt and it says my longest putt is 27.9 feet. I am 95% sure it is meters, but if anyone else has another idea feel free to let me know. 16) I have one more match to play in Platinum level, but I already beat Chad. How come it's not moving me up to the Black Level? The reason you cannot move up to black rank is you need to get all the items offline. Since you still have one more platinum level rank to go, I would assume that is the reason you cannot advance. 17) I was reading your walkthrough good job by the way. I have one quick question, after you take the shot I would like to watch the ball in the air and land in a speeded up motion. Is that possible? It is not possible to my knowledge. You can skip a shot to go straight from hitting it to where it will land. 18) I am having trouble finding the items on the course? I am using your walkthrough and I cannot find the items. Finding the course items are a little tricky. I probably should have done more trial and error. The thing is, some of the items need to be done a certain way. Sometimes you need to be on the regular tee and sometimes you need to be on the long tee. You should try different things and characters when you are trying this out. If you are trying to get an alternate design of a club, you need the club first. Say you want the Baguette Intermediate Design Club, you need to unlock the Infinite Intermediate Club First. 19) Today I was playing Open Tee 2 online and I chose match play. I played against this girl who could hit the ball 700 yards with her driver and huge distances with all of her other clubs. Do you have any idea how this happened or how to do it? Yes they are cheating. I am trying to put a list of people that are cheaters so you are aware before you play them. Pan48 is the only cheater I am aware of at this moment, but I am sure there are more. ********************************************************************** CONTROLS AND SPECIAL SHOTS (CASS) Control What it does ______________________________________________________________________ Up Down Moves the camera up and down Left and Right Changes the shot direction Analog Control Camera Angle Select Views the Scorecard Select (Menu) When selecting a character, you can press select to make a character left handed. Start Swap Camera X Begin Shot/Select Power/Select Accuracy X & Triangle Move camera back and forth O Return Shot / Camera to Default Square Swap shot mode from normal to power L1 & R1 Club Select Soft Reset During a round, press and hold L1 + R1 + Start to return to the main screen. Works Offline Only. ______________________________________________________________________ When you take a shot there are three points that happen. The first one you do by starting the shot with the X button. Then the meter starts to fill up and you start your back swing. At this point you want to hit the X button at the furthest point in the back swing with the X button. When you do this, your swing will start to come forward. Hit the X button again at the point of impact to receive perfect accuracy. SPECIAL SHOTS There are special shots you can do in the game that will help you succeed. Below are the special controls you can use, how to perform them, and what they do when they are done correctly. POWER MODE Red Power Mode increases a club length by 10 yards while reducing control Blue Power Mode increases the 1WD length more while making control more of an issue. Full power mode should add at least 5y to 1w, not 0y. Thank you mcpy1212 for that information. ***************** IMPORTANT After you take your swing, you can get a power shot back if you are taking one. Press Triangle the moment the club hits the ball and you might get an extra power shot. ***************** To spin the ball, press a direction button at the moment of impact. To do top spin, press the up directional button. To do back spin, press the down directional button. to do side spin, press the left or right directional button. ________________________________________________________________________ You do not have to press the button at impact, you can hold it down. You can hold it down and once you hit your power, you can hold down the opposite button. I should have wrote that before because this is a really easy method. Credit to JonnyZ for bringing that to my attention ________________________________________________________________________ Top spin has a low trajectory with less wind effect and skips off the ground. Back spin has high trajectory with more wind effect and generally stops when it hits the ground. Side spin curves either to the left or right and is useful when trying to avoid obstacles. SUPER BACK SPIN. (HOMING SHOT) Press the up button when setting power and the down button at impact. If you get a perfect impact, the ball will burn with blue flames and spin backwards on the green or fairway. Homing ball does not always work. Sometimes when it tries to home in on the hole it will lip the cup and leave you with a putt. Although it is rare for it not to work it is possible that it will not go in even though you did everything correct. CREDIT to GorgeousDre SUPER TOP SPIN (RISING SHOT) Press the down button when setting power and the up button at impact. If you get a perfect impact, you will hit a low flying top spin shot. This shot can also skip across water. SUPER SIDE SPIN (SPIRAL SHOT) Press the right or left button when setting power and the opposite at impact to hit a ball with super side spin. This ball will have an even bigger curve. SUPER DIAGONAL SPIN This is not describ0ed in the game, but it works on the same premise. You can obtain BOTH super side spin and super top/back spin by pressing diagonal one way and then the opposite way. Just like the above shots, you will need perfect impact to perform it. __________________________________________________________________________ This was added in by _Mace_ Just a few things I saw in the guide that I wanted to comment on. Red Power Mode = +10 yards You should note that Super Diagonal Spin activates Spiral Ball. Note that Rising ball is always active, whereas Homing ball is not. Not sure about Spiral Ball, but I've never seen it fail to activate when it strikes the pin. __________________________________________________________________________ This was sent in by mcpy1212 as a correction to the full power mode. I ADJUSTING POWER AT IMPACT Instead of hitting the X button at impact. If you press the O button at impact, this will reduce your power by 2-3%. If you press the Triangle button at impact, this will increase your power by 2-3%. This is very useful when you are trying to correct a power mistake on your swing. Also, if you hit Triangle and your power is set at 100%, it will never go over 100%. HOMING SHOT If a ball is hit with Super Back Spin and it strikes the pin, it will home in on the pin until it gets in the hole. You receive 10pts for a pin hit and an additional points for each time it hits after that. The first hit is 10, then 20, then 30 and so on. Just as an FYI, this does not seem to work at a short distance ( I think anything not used in approach mode or 1WD). __________________________________________________________________________ When homing ball activates and misses, it's because of a sloped green. This can be really annoying if it bounced far away after hitting the pin, then powerspins waaay farther than the pin, possibly off the green. Credit to halifix for info __________________________________________________________________________ RISING SHOT If a ball is hit with Super Top Spin and it strikes the pin, it will rise up the pin and fall down into the hole. SPIRAL SHOT If a ball is hit with Super Side Spin and it strikes the pin, it will spiral around the pin and go into the hole. Very hard to pull off but very cool to watch. __________________________________________________________________________ In the FAQ section, your answer about flag ball shots seems to omit two pieces I have trouble with: actually hitting the flag and getting perfect impact. You are right I forgot to add the most important part. Credit to Vysion_of_books __________________________________________________________________________ FLYER WARNING Okay so this isn't really a special shot, but if you land in the rough, a flyer warning could be on the screen. You will know because the percentages of how far your ball will travel will be highlighted yellow. There is a chance that when you hit the ball it will carry to about 110-120% of the club's potential maximum distance. If you get a flyer warning, check around to the club higher or lower to see if the warning turns off and use that club instead. ********************************************************************** MENU (MENU) Single Player Mode Build up your stats, unlock new characters, and obtain new items Challenge - Unlock characters and obtain items by playing various competitive formats Stroke Play - Choose a course for stroke play Minigame - A hole-in-one game of 9 holes, 1 stroke per hole. Each character starts at level 0 when you start or unlock them. The levels go from 0 up to MAX ( Level 10). I listed what happens at each level to help you figure out if you are close to getting something good to help out your game. LOYALTY LEVEL WHAT YOU UNLOCK _____________________________________________________________________ 1 Increase power shots, extra costume 2 Rising, Homing, and Spiral shots unlocked 3 Triangle & O impact adjustment unlocked 4 Increase power shots, extra costume 5 Power Recovery Impact Enabled 6 Full Power Mode Enabled 7 Add "skinny" physique to funhouse 8 Increase power shot, extra costume 9 Add "bloated" physique to funhouse MAX Can equip a 2nd accessory _____________________________________________________________________ As a side note, when you finish a 9 hole game it increases your heart level by a half. When you finish a 18 hole game it increases your heart level by one. You also receive 1/4 of a heart for doing a match game. Credit to halifix for adding that. Also, you can look in the tip, cheats, and glitches section of this walkthrough for easier ways of building loyalty. _____________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT ON GETTING MAX LOYALTY If you are stuck at loyalty level 9 and you cannot get to MAX, you should check that character you beat and see if you have a Win or a Super Win. If it is not a Super Win, compete against them again until you get a Super Win (called game or 3up). I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH THE TROUBLE SOME PEOPLE ARE HAVING FINDING CERTAIN CHARACTERS. From personal experience: while playing with one character to try and unlock a new character but you only partially unlock them, using another character won’t work to unlock that new character. This comes from trying to unlock Rio multiple times by bogeying six not knowing the criteria. I was playing through with Alice who did bogey 5 but failed to gain Rio because I answered the question wrong about shaking the tree. Later playthroughs with other characters could never find Rio in the tree. Rio wasn’t gained until I went back to using Alice on the course to finish the unlocking process by 3 shaking the tree. Credit to Vysion_of_books for that. ************************************************************************* In this section I listed all the bonus items you can unlock that are balls and clubs. The first skip nets you 10 points, then 20 points, etc. If you land in the water while doing the water skip, you will lose all your points. You also receive a bonus for long putts. 30+ ft. is 50 points and 60+ ft is 100 points. There might be more levels in between. It seems easy enough, just get hole-in-ones. It is much harder than that. The course is just 9 holes and the object is to get as many points as you can. You start off with a 10, 20, and 30 point hole. You unlock the 40 point hole by making the 30 point shot and you unlock the 50 point hole by making the 40 point shot. Really you are trying to get as many points you can to unlock some items. If you sink in the 50 point hole on 9, you will unlock a 500 point hole. Here is a list of the items you can unlock. ITEM UNLOCKED POINTS NEEDED _____________________________________________________________________ Pink Outfit 300 Points Chief Seven Iron 400 Points Soccer Uniform 1 500 Points Comedy Suit 600 Points Knight's Armour 700 Points _____________________________________________________________________ Here is a course breakdown of the minigame. If anyone has an easier tip on how they got a good shot, let me know and I will add it. CREDIT TO WEAVE FOR SUBMITTING THIS MINIGAME WALKTHROUGH. GREAT JOB. HOLE #1: HANDICAP 9 By far the most easily obtainable 50 shot on the mini course. Simply aim your shot for the vast landing area in front of the 50 hole and let the ball roll right in to the depression. There is plenty of room in between the other holes and in front of the hole, so it's easy to "hit and run" your shot in that area and take the 50. One pointer I will point out: If there is wind in your face, you will want to hit the ball with some top spin so that it doesn't stop in it's tracks in the large landing area. HOLE #2: HANDICAP 7 This hole took me a while to figure out how to reach because even if you try to use the PW to reach the hole, the max distance doesn't go up. I finally realized that if there was wind in your face, it is necessary to hit the "square" button and change the shot from the "approach" mode to "normal" so that you can actually hit the ball further. This will make the shot more difficult to hone in on the hole, but at least you can get it there. I have been trying to use the same method on this hole as I did on the first (landing the ball in front of the hole with topspin and feeding it in that way. HOLE #3: HANDICAP 8 Another very easily obtainable hole due to the large open area in front of the "50" that allows the golfer to land the ball and apply topspin if necessary to project the ball toward the hole. The target is at the far left of the green and there is a strong pull towards the "20" pin that will catch a lot of the shots that stray to the right that will save you from scoring a zero in the event you're even a little off the mark. However, be careful not to hook the ball to far left or you will end up off the green and receive the -10 penalty. HOLE #4: HANDICAP 2 This hole provides a very challenging/tight area for the "50" shot that doesn't leave much margin for error at all. The pin sits on the extreme right side of the green and it's extremely easy to loose the shot out in right field out of bounds or on the huge cart path if it's not hard enough. The wind seems to be a deceiver on this one, and can easily skew the actual power one should use for the hole. The most efficient approach may be to aim for the small area behind the hole and try to backspin the ball back to the hole. This is a tough one, and I have found myself swallowing my pride and taking the "40" located on the opposite (far left) of the green. **** Alternate Strategy by Vysion_of_books Instead of chipping, try putting which works rolling the ball down the rocky terrain. **** HOLE #5: HANDICAP 6 Very similar to hole number 3, but with less margin for error on the approach. Located on the far left of the green, this hole will most likely require some spin depending on the wind. It is possible to use no spin however, and land the ball short and led it fee toward the cup. HOLE #6: HANDICAP 1 This hole will prove to be the most challenging to score due to a number of factors. Between the rocks protecting the hole, the angulations of the green, the propensity of the ball to land and stop, and most of all the fact that no matter how much club is used it never seems to be enough... this one will give the common golfer the fits. The most plausible strategy that I've found for this "50" shot is to club up to the point that the distance indicator is just off the back of the green, then (using backspin) try to land behind the hole and back it in to the cup. This one takes some getting used to, so be patient. The ball never seems to travel as far as the distance indicates, so don't be afraid to use a club that may seem as if it's way too much. HOLE #7: HANDICAP 3 Another tough hole that will require some practice. With the crowned pin located in the middle of the green, it's extremely important to adjust for the wind in an attempt to land the ball near the "halo" protecting the pin, and roll the ball into the cup. If you have any wind at your back you might be best off landing the ball towards the front of the mound , and hope for the kind roll into the cup. Any wind in your face and you will be required to back it up off the back of the raised area and hope for the best. May take a few dozen attempts before the feel for this shot comes to you. HOLE #8: HANDICAP 4 This hole, which is located on a shelf on the right side of the cliff, has a very high tendency to come up short if not hit with perfect impact. The easiest way that I have found is to use more club than it appears to call for and apply enough backspin to guide it in the cup. Note: There is a "tent-type structure" on the back of the shelf green, and if your shot is long it can hit this structure and fall back toward the cup quite nicely. This method (although difficult to pull off intentionally), will have a good chance a to register as a "Lucky" which can be a good payoff toward the end of this mini feature. Important Note for this hole: Be careful on the green. It is very flat, and the ball will just stop quite often. **** Alternate Strategy by dasteacher It is really easy to get the 50 point hole if you use the ramps put behind the hole. In order to do this, club up about 3 irons, this will cause you to hit the top "ramp" and it goes into the hole 90% of the time. The other holes with the water towers will do the same thing, but hole 8 is extremely easy to get it to work. **** HOLE #9 Handicap 5 My expertise on this particular hole is limited due to my repeated attempts at hitting the bonus 500. However, the hole plays very similar to number 8 (just shorter, further below the tee box). This is another rather flax green, some spin may be necessary to propel the ball toward the cup. Important Note: Assuming you have already unlocked the "500" hole...and you don't have a extremely high score otherwise, it is in your best interest to take a shot for the big prize. If you can somehow hit that shot (which absolutely requires backspin and perfect impact, aim, distance, etc..), obtaining those 500 points, along with the points you earned on holes 1-8, you will unlock the items listed in the area of the walk through that have been listed in the walk through. Good Luck! *The handicap ratings are based solely on my personal opinion and will most likely be disputed by others based on different people's strengths and weaknesses they have with their character of choice or from their own skill level. Also, because of the relatively short distance of these holes, it is important to understand that you can use one of the beginner characters with high control and impact to insure there are not mistakes made in that aspect of the shots. CREDIT TO WEAVE FOR SUBMITTING THIS MINIGAME WALKTHROUGH. GREAT JOB. *********************************************************************** RABBIT/TURTLE TUTORIAL (RABTUR) You may have noticed if you played online people are driving the ball alot farther then you normally can. By mishitting the ball, you can drive the ball to anywhere up to maybe 40 yards farther (sometimes more) than what your driver can normally hit. It is a little hard to explain it so I am going to link you to a webpage that has a nice picture walkthrough. http://www.hotshotsgolf.com/index.php/topic,1884.0.html Thank you Kid64 for the nice pictures :) *********************************************************************** COURSE BREAKDOWN (COUBD) I am going to add stuff on each update, hopefully, each course and how you should go about handling it. Below, I have a template that will show how you will look at the information. If you find any shortcuts or another method that you think is better, feel free to email me at Roughdawg4@hotmail.com with an explanation on how to do it. I won't talk about the greens that much because the pin can change location. I think for each hole there is about 5 locations. Try to take a look at the green before your shot to see where is the better place to land. Also, I obviously have no idea what the wind situation will be for you. So, when I make you a suggestion it is assuming no wind. Make more or less adjustments based on that. As an FYI, 9 Hole Out is Holes 1-9. 9 Hole In is Holes 10-18. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: What hole it is Par: Par for the hole Yards: How many yards away from the regular tee to the hole LYards: How many yards away from the long tee to the hole Elevation: How many yards up or down it is from the regular tee to the hole General: This is how you approach the hole with nothing special to it. This is the safe method. Shortcut: This is how you approach the hole being a little fancy. Sometimes it can be a normal shot, but most of the time you will have to be good and have a little luck to pull this off. Not every hole has a shortcut, so I will list it when it is applicable. Long Tee: I will write something here if I feel the need to. The Long Tee can add up to 55 yards more than the regular tee to each hole. Most of the time, this will not make a difference. If it does, I will make a note here. REMEMBER THE LONG TEE IS REVERSED. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SOUTH ALPS C.C. (SOALP) South Alps is one of the easiest courses in this game. One of the biggest features of this course is the mountains and the elevation. There is alot of dips in elevation on certain holes. You can use this to your advantage by using Super Top Spin and bouncing your ball down the fairway. This gives you the ability to drive the ball further than you normally could. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 366 Yards LYards: 399 Yards Elevation: 43 Yards down to the hole General: Aim right down the fairway in front of you. Try to aim a little right to both the bunkers that are in the middle of the fairway. Lay up a little, if necessary, to avoid them. Now you are going to be left with a short shot to the green. Make sure to take off 6-7 yards off your shot to make up for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: If you have a powerful character, you can make it to the green in one shot. You can even use the mountain to ricochet the ball off of to get more bounce. It isn't hard to reach the green in 1, but it is hard to be accurate. Long Tee: Same as above except for the shortcut. Good luck reaching the green in one shot now. :). And just so you know, it is possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 3 Yards: 136 Yards LYards: 174 Yards Elevation: 2.0 Yards down to the hole General: Very easy hole right here. Almost no elevation and a flat green. It doesn't get any easier than this. Shortcut: None. Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 4 Yards: 383 Yards LYards: 437 Yards Elevation: 29 Yards down to the hole General: Just knock it down the fairway as far as you can. Just make sure to avoid the bunkers. The good thing is regardless if you have alot of power or none, you should be left with an easy approach shot to the hole. Shortcut: Rabbit/Turtle Technique. Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 4 Yards: 362 Yards LYards: 419 Yards Elevation: 1.8 Yards up to the hole General: Aim at the spot in the fairway in between the 2 bunkers. It is a nice big spot you can land in and gives you a great approach shot to the hole. You might have some elevation up to the hole so you might need to add an extra yard or two to reach the hole. Shortcut: If you have a really powerful character, you can make it over the mountain to the green. You might need to bounce off the mountain for the extra yardage, but it is possible. This is not easy to do so try in practice mode first. Long Tee: Same as above. Forget about the shortcut. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 5 Yards: 559 Yards LYards: 590 Yards Elevation: 44 Yards down to the hole General: Depending on how powerful your character is, you can reach the green in 2. If you cannot reach the green in 2, make sure to lay it up to the left of the green down the fairway. Make sure if you are going for the green in 2 shots, watch out for the trees and mountain that could be in your way. Curve your shot if necessary. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 352 Yards LYards: 379 Yards Elevation: 13 Yards down to the hole General: Just hit it down the fairway. There really isn't too much too worry about so just hit it as far as you can. You should have an easy approach shot to the hole so just take your time on aiming. Shortcut: Rabbit/Turtle Technique. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 4 Yards: 331 Yards LYards: 369 Yards Elevation: 19 Yards down to the hole General: Again, a very easy hole. Just hit it down the fairway as far as you can. Make sure when you line up for your approach shot, you take off some yards for the dip in elevation. You might need to take off as much as 7-8 yards off your stroke depending on where you land. Shortcut: Another hole where it is possible to reach the green in 1. You will again need a lucky bounce or a very powerful character to do this. It is not easy, but the good thing is you can take the risk without having to worry to much about any consequences. Long Tee: Same as above except for the shortcut. It is out of reach. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 3 Yards: 146 Yards LYards: 202 Yards Elevation: 10 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to take around 5 yards off your stroke to the hole. Again, the green is pretty flat so this is another easy par 3. Make sure to not undershoot too much because you might not reach the green and you will roll down the fairway. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 544 Yards LYards: 549 Yards Elevation: 29 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the right fairway. If you are powerful enough, you should be able to reach the green in 2. The good thing is you should get a nice roll down the fairway since it is downhill. When you aim for the green, make sure to shave some yards of the swing because there should be a big drop in elevation to the green. Shortcut: This is a good shortcut if you are not powerful enough to reach the green from the right fairway. Aim for the fairway right between the 4 bunkers. It is not as difficult as it seems. This puts you in a great position to reach the green in 2 shots. Make sure to use super backspin on your approach shot to the green because you do not want to hit a mountain. Long Tee: The shortcut might be a better option unless you are really powerful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 386 Yards LYards: 417 Yards Elevation: 33 Yards down to the hole General: A real safe spot to hit in the fairway is about 210-220 yards off the tee. If you hit it further than that, it has the chance of rolling off the fairway into the rough, and you don't want that. If you lay up your shot, you will have a good shot to the green. Make sure to shorten up a few yards for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: This is another difficult shortcut to pull off, but if you have a powerful character you can reach the green in 1 shot. Aim right at the green and try to ricochet off the mountain to propel your ball. This is not easy to do but it has alot of reward potential. Another shot that you should try in practice mode before you try it in a tournament. Long Tee: Just forget about the shortcut. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 4 Yards: 367 Yards LYards: 400 Yards Elevation: 16 Yards down to the hole General: Again just aim right down the fairway in front of you. Make sure to avoid the bunker in the middle of the fairway. If you can keep it on the fairway you should have an elevation shot down to the green. Again, make sure to take off some yards to compensate. Shortcut: Another hard hole to reach the green in 1. Just try to bounce off the mountain and get on the green. Try to not use the mountain if you can to make sure the ball does not take off and roll past the green. Long Tee: Forget trying to reach this green in 2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 3 Yards: 95 Yards LYards: 136 Yards Elevation: 19 Yards down to the hole General: Easy green just a big dip in elevation down to the hole. Shave off about 6-7 yards off your swing to make up for the elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 5 Yards: 519 Yards LYards: 576 Yards Elevation: 34 Yards down to the hole General: Really isn't too much this hole. Just hit down the fairway as far as you can and try to setup for reaching the green in 2. There will be some elevation down to the hole for the approach shot to the green, so make sure to shorten up a few yards. Also, make sure to note the water right in front of the green. Try to not undershoot too much because you will end up there. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Just be careful with the bunkers on the drive shot and then the trees and mountain on the approach. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 4 Yards: 374 Yards LYards: 402 Yards Elevation: 5.0 Yards down to the hole General: Just hit it down the fairway and avoid the bunkers. Depending on where you land, you will have elevation up to the hole. Make sure to add a few yards to compensate. Shortcut: Rabbit/Turtle Technique Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 369 Yards LYards: 404 Yards Elevation: 1.6 Yards down to the hole General: Drive it down the fairway. Make sure to avoid the 2 bunkers in the middle of the fairway. If you must, shorten up because the fairway will make the ball roll down and you don't want to land in one. If you land on the fairway, you should have an easy no elevation shot to the green. Shortcut: This course is just full of the shortcuts. You can reach the green in 1 shot. Some people might be powerful enough to clear the water, but most will not be able to. What we are going to do is skip across the water to the green. Use Super Topspin and skip to the green. This is a little risky because if you make a bad shot or fail to pull of the super Topspin, you might sink in the water. Long Tee: Okay the shortcut is going to be extremely dangerous now. If you decide to go for it, you better make sure use hit the super topspin shot or you will land in the water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 3 Yards: 145 Yards LYards: 172 Yards Elevation: 4.8 Yards down to the hole General: Another really easy par 3. Shorten up a 2-3 yards for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 4 Yards: 415 Yards LYards: 440 Yards Elevation: 21 Yards down to the hole General: You have two options, either knock it past the water, or lay it up right before it. If you are not confident about hitting it past the water, just lay up. There really isn't too much of a reward hitting it far except for the fact you are closer to the green. A nice place to lay up is the fairway on the right that extends a little into the water. Another good reason for laying up here is the approach shot is easy. Almost no elevation to the hole making it really easy. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Try not to shoot over the water now. It is really hard to do now and like I said before, it is too big of a risk for no real reward. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 494 Yards LYards: 531 Yards Elevation: 37 Yards down to the hole General: If you have a good powered up character, you can reach the green in 2. There are two fairways that you can hit it on. I personally think the left fairway is a better choice since it is bigger, but it is your choice. It doesn't matter too much. If you land on the fairway you will have a downhill shot to the hole. Make sure to shorten up your stroke for the dip in elevation. Also, make sure you do not overshoot too much because your ball might roll into the water. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above except you might want to hit the fairway on the right. I know it looks dangerous with the 2 bunkers but there are easy to avoid and the other fairway is really easy to land in the rough. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NAGAWAKA PUBLIC (NKGW) Just like South Alps, this course is very easy. The only thing that is different is the elevation. Most of the elevation is flat so this makes this course very simple. As a side note, the rabbit/turtle technique is highly effective here. I suggest trying it out because it can easily shave a few strokes off your final score. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 356 Yards LYards: 376 Yards Elevation: 2.5 Yards down to the hole General: This hole is simple so just knock it down the fairway. If you have a powerful character, you can reach the green in 1 shot or get really close to it. From the fairway, it is a really easy flat approach shot to the hole. Shortcut: You can make it to the hole in one shot if you use the rabbit/ turtle shot outlined above. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 4 Yards: 358 Yards LYards: 375 Yards Elevation: 7.2 Yards down to the hole General: This hole is exactly the same as hole 1. Just knock it down the fairway. If you are powerful enough, you can get on the green in 1 shot. The elevation for the approach shot should be flat so just hit the shot normally. Shortcut: Another hole that can be reached with the rabbit/turtle technique. Long Tee: same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 3 Yards: 149 Yards LYards: 172 Yards Elevation: 16 Yards down to the hole General: A short par 3. Make sure to shorten up 5 or 6 yards for the dip in elevation. Don't worry too much about being exact. The green Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 4 Yards: 339 Yards LYards: 360 Yards Elevation: 17 Yards down to the hole General: Aim to the right side down the fairway. You are going to have to shorten your stroke to stay on the fairway. You will have an easy approach shot to the hole. No elevation, it doesn't get much better than this. Shortcut: You can shoot it on the green in 1 shot. Aim right at the green. Make sure to avoid the bunker. Shoot the ball a little to the right or left to avoid it. Remember to ask yourself this question, would you rather have a 10yd chip shot out of the bunker for eagle or a 35-40 foot putt on a slow moving green for eagle. Long Tee: Same as above except the shortcut will be a little bit harder too reach. It is still possible so take a shot for it if you want. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 5 Yards: 472 Yards LYards: 497 Yards Elevation: 10 Yards down to the hole General: Hit the ball over the road/railway and aim for the fairway. The good thing about this is the road is sloping down so your ball will travel down it. Try to not use the left side of the road because it could slope down into the bunker. If you land on the fairway successfully, you will be in prime position for an eagle no matter what character you use. The elevation is flat too so this should be an easy eagle. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 416 Yards LYards: 445 Yards Elevation: 0.8 Yards down to the hole General: Just hit it down the fairway and avoid the bunker in the middle of it. You will have another easy approach shot to the hole. You are probably starting to wonder why I even make a walkthrough for this course. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 3 Yards: 130 Yards LYards: 174 Yards Elevation: 8.3 Yards down to the hole General: Shorten up about 3 or 4 yards to make up for the dip in elevation. Try to not undershoot too much, you might end up in the drink. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 4 Yards: 388 Yards LYards: 412 Yards Elevation: 1.3 Yards down to the hole General: Knock it down the fairway. Try to shorten up a little so you do not land in the bunker. After you land in the fairway, it will be another easy, no elevation, shot to the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 518 Yards LYards: 540 Yards Elevation: 20 Yards down to the hole General: This is another par 3 that helps people who cannot hit the ball very far. You can use that little slope to bounce the ball off of to land on the fairway. If you have enough power, you can avoid this and just knock it on the fairway on the island. Try to make sure you do not use too much power so you don't bounce off the fairway into the water. No matter where you land on the island, the shot will be close to zero elevation to the hole. So take your time and get that eagle. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Just be careful when aiming for the island with alot of power. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 416 Yards LYards: 444 Yards Elevation: 8.5 Yards down to the hole General: Hit the ball on the right side of the bunker to avoid it. If you have enough power hit it over the bunker. Again, this will leave you with an easy approach shot to the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 5 Yards: 532 Yards LYards: 562 Yards Elevation: 20 Yards down to the hole General: Hit the spot on the left side of the fairway about 260 yards out. This is a great spot to go for the eagle. You can try going over the little stream of water if you want, but it isn't worth it. When you line up for the shot to the green, make sure to shave off 4-5 yards for the drop in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 4 Yards: 333 Yards LYards: 349 Yards Elevation: 10 Yards down to the hole General: Aim down the right side of the fairway. Lay up to the distance of about 170-180 yards because it gives you the best shot to the hole. The elevation is almost flat so just ignore it. Shortcut: Well it is simple, go for the green in 1 shot. There is a big dip in elevation so make sure to shorten up a little. If you get a good shot in, you can guarantee you at least a birdie. Long Tee: The shortcut might be a little bit harder this time around. Use a Top Spin shot to bounce off the water onto the green. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 4 Yards: 387 Yards LYards: 404 Yards Elevation: 1.6 Yards down to the hole General: Either aim to the right of the water or over the water depending on how much power you have. Either way is good enough so be safe if you are a little worried. No matter which option you pick, will have a flat elevation for the approach shot. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 3 Yards: 154 Yards LYards: 185 Yards Elevation: 3.7 Yards up to the hole General: Make sure to add a few yards to the swing because you will be shooting up to the green. Its an easy hole so just take your time. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 409 Yards LYards: 436 Yards Elevation: 13 Yards down to the hole General: Lay it up on the fairway about 260 yards from the tee. This will have some elevation down to the hole so make sure to shorten up some yards to compensate. Be careful of the two bunkers around the green. Shortcut: I almost was not going to list this but I guess I might as well. After the fairway you can see a walkway leading down to the green. If you can hit the ball on this walkway, it will bounce down to the green. The problem with this is most of the time you will end up in the rough or in the bunker on your way down. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 412 Yards LYards: 442 Yards Elevation: 5.3 Yards down to the hole General: Hit it over the little road curving out and onto the fairway. This will leave you with a very short approach shot to the hole. You will have some elevation down to the hole so shorten up 2-3 yards. Shortcut: This is another hole where you can reach the green in 1 shot. Be careful of the bunker on your way to the hole. The good thing is if you hit the ball hard enough, you can roll out of the bunker and land in the fairway or the green. Long Tee: The shortcut might be out of reach now so just be careful. If you aren't careful, you might just end up with an OB. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 175 Yards LYards: 200 Yards Elevation: 1.2 Yards down to the hole General: A really simple hole. Almost no elevation so you can hit the ball normally. A great hole to try for the hole-in-one. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 527 Yards LYards: 558 Yards Elevation: 3.5 Yards up to the hole General: There is a small section of fairway right in the middle of the course that will help to reach the green in 2 shots. Take advantage of this if you are using a character that isn't that powerful. When you go for the green you might have some elevation up to the hole so add a few yards to your shot. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ AUTUMN PAGODA (AUPG) Now don't let Autumn Pagoda fool you, it is not an easy course. Although simple compared to the rest, it is very easy to land in the rough and just ruin your round. Many holes are going to be downward so adjust your power when necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 379 Yards LYards: 423 Yards Elevation: 19 Yards down to the hole General: Go ahead and smash it down the fairway. The fairway goes downhill, so there is a good possibility you can reach the green. When you go for your approach shot, make sure to take off some yards to make up for the elevation going down. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 4 Yards: 402 Yards LYards: 430 Yards Elevation: 5.0 Yards up to the hole General: Same as the last hole, knock it down the fairway. Make sure to note the 2 bunkers in the middle of the fairway. When you aim for your approach shot to the green, you will have some elevation up to the hole. Make sure to add a few yards up to the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 3 Yards: 133 Yards LYards: 184 Yards Elevation: 7.0 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to take off 3-4 yards to the hole for the dip in elevation. The green is slow moving so it should be easy to walk away with a birdie here. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 5 Yards: 561 Yards LYards: 574 Yards Elevation: 47 Yards down to the hole General: Simple strategy here, knock it down the fairway. Try to keep the ball closer to the middle or right side of the fairway. This will help you with the approach shot to the green. If you go for the green for the eagle, take off about 7-8 yards for the drop in elevation. This is an easy hole for an eagle so take advantage of that. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 409 Yards LYards: 431 Yards Elevation: 2.7 Yards down to the hole General: If you have too much power, try to lay up some because of the bunker in the middle in the fairway. Since the fairway rolls downhill, you can easily roll into the bunker. Lay off about 3 or 4 yards when you shoot for the green to compensate for the elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 425 Yards LYards: 438 Yards Elevation: 15 Yards down to the hole General: Aim to the left fairway, over the water. There are a few bunkers in the fairway so make sure to avoid them. There is a good chance that you will have no elevation to adjust for going for the approach shot to the green. If you do have some elevation, adjust what you think is right. Shortcut: You can reach the green in 1 shot. If you are powerful enough, you can reach the green directly. If you think you can't, waterskip to the green. If you got 285+ power in yards, you should be able to make it in one skip which gives you a little leeway in hitting perfect impact for the topspin. Be careful of the tree right in front of you. If you have low impact for a club, you might have trouble doing this. Long Tee: The shortcut is very difficult now. You will need a powerful character to pull this off. Not only that, you will need to pull off a perfect super topspin shot to reach the green. If you go for the green, you got a big set of balls and will probably make or break you in a tournament. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 3 Yards: 144 Yards LYards: 167 Yards Elevation: 18 Yards down to the hole General: There is a big drop in elevation to the hole so make sure to take off a good 5-6 yards to make up for that. Try not to undershoot to much or you might end up in the water. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 4 Yards: 348 Yards LYards: 388 Yards Elevation: 28 Yards down to the hole General: Shoot the ball down the right side of the fairway. This spot is a nice safe spot to aim for a shot at the green. You will have some elevation down to the hole if you land at this spot so make sure to take off 3-4 yards off your stroke. Shortcut: You can make it to the green in one shot here, but it won't be easy. You might want to aim for the right side of the green just to make sure you reach it. Long Tee: The shortcut is almost impossible to reach now. Just forget about it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 503 Yards LYards: 519 Yards Elevation: 0.2 Yards up to the hole General: Aim for the left fairway and hit it down as far as you can. You should be able to go for the green if you have a decent amount of power. You might have some elevation up so add a few extra shots to your swing. Be careful with your swing because you do not want to end up in the water. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. Just remember to be careful on the approach shot. You do not want to land in the water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 426 Yards LYards: 447 Yards Elevation: 31 Yards down to the hole General: I will tell you this, the fairway on this hole is pretty interesting. I would recommend laying up a little on the big fairway section near the bunker. This is a nice safe spot to land. This will leave you with a good shot to the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 3 Yards: 195 Yards LYards: 208 Yards Elevation: 7.2 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to take off a few yards to the hole for the drop in elevation. Make sure to use some super backspin to make it easier to stick on the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 4 Yards: 418 Yards LYards: 446 Yards Elevation: 10 Yards down to the hole General: Shoot it right down the fairway. If you have enough power, make sure to watch out for the tree and avoid it. You do not want to end up behind it. You might end up with no elevation to the green, but if you have some elevation just remember to compensate a little bit. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 4 Yards: 398 Yards LYards: 442 Yards Elevation: 14 Yards up to the hole General: Another simple strategy, just nail it down the fairway. You will have some elevation up to the hole so make sure to add some yardage to your swing. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 4 Yards: 421 Yards LYards: 438 Yards Elevation: 27 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the fairway section near the bunker. Lay up if you need to hit the big section of it. From here you should have an elevation shot down to the hole. Try to shave off a few yards from your stroke to make up for that. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 5 Yards: 489 Yards LYards: 510 Yards Elevation: 25 Yards down to the hole General: You have two options here. You can either go down the right side of the fairway and the left side off the planks. If you have great power go on the right side. If you think you can use the extra distance take the left side. Either way, you will have an elevation shot down to the green for the eagle. Make sure you take about 4-5 yards off your swing. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 420 Yards LYards: 431 Yards Elevation: 19 Yards down to the hole General: Shoot it down the fairway. Just be careful of the bunker in the middle of it. When you land on the fairway, it will be an easy approach shot to the hole. Just make sure to take off 2-3 yards for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 179 Yards LYards: 192 Yards Elevation: 2.8 Yards down to the hole General: The elevation isn't very much so don't bother compensating for it. Just try and use super backspin to stick it to the green. The green isn't very big so try and get it on as best as you can. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 582 Yards LYards: 589 Yards Elevation: 68 Yards down to the hole General: This is a far tee, and this is the regular tee. Power up and use some super topspin to get farther down the fairway. If you can land in the fairway, you will have a far downhill shot to the green. It won't be easy but you can do it. Make sure to take a good amount of yardage off for the elevation. Try not to overshoot because you do not want to end up in the water. Good luck :) Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CENTRAL GOLF SQUARE (CNSQ) On the same difficulty level as Autumn Pagoda, Central Golf Square offers the same problems. The rough is easy to get on and even a few holes you can hit the ball out of bounds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 416 Yards LYards: 471 Yards Elevation: 11 Yards down to the hole General: If you have enough power you can bounce the shot off the sidewalk onto the fairway. If you don't, or if you want to play it safe, hit it up the fairway and a little to the left. If you have some elevation down to the hole make sure to shorten up a few yards. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above except forget about the sidewalk. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 3 Yards: 176 Yards LYards: 223 Yards Elevation: 3.2 Yards down to the hole General: An easy green for this hole. Make sure to take a yard or two off your stroke to make up for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 5 Yards: 529 Yards LYards: 546 Yards Elevation: 12 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the fairway in front of you. If you have enough power, you should aim over the bunker to have a great shot for eagle. If you do not have enough power, just aim right before the bunker. Either way you should have an elevation shot down to the hole. If it is less than 2 yards, then don't do anything. If it is more than 2 yards, then take off a few yards to compensate. Even for a character with average power, you can reach the green in 2. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 4 Yards: 397 Yards LYards: 415 Yards Elevation: 21 Yards down to the hole General: I would recommend laying up to about 200-220 yards in the big section of the fairway. It still will be an easy shot to the hole. You can go down the fairway with the bunker in it, but if you land in the rough, good luck still trying to birdie the hole. Depending on which route you take, you will have an increase or a dip in elevation. Just make sure tom compensate when necessary. Shortcut: Do you see that very long and narrow walkway. Guess what. You are going to roll it right down it. It is very hard to do and it definitely has a risk/reward to it. If you are good at the rough the risk is alot less. If you can nail it down the walkway, you are looking at a chance for an eagle. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 441 Yards LYards: 449 Yards Elevation: 23 Yards down to the hole General: Aim to the left side of the fairway. You could have some elevation down to the hole. If you have a few yards, make sure to take off a few yards. Shortcut: There is a nice little spot of fairway right near some water. If you want you can hit it, but be careful. If you undershoot the ball too much, it will ricochet off the hill and roll into the water. Make sure if you are aiming for it, to aim for the middle of it where it is flat. Avoid this spot if you have enough power, getting a little closer is not worth landing in the water. The good thing about this spot is the flat elevation. This will be a really easy approach shot. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 3 Yards: 157 Yards LYards: 211 Yards Elevation: 15 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to take about 8 yards off your stroke. There is a dip in elevation so make sure you take off the yards. Make sure you do not undershoot the green, the front part of the green is sloped down and if you are there you will have a big uphill, sloping putt. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 4 Yards: 347 Yards LYards: 377 Yards Elevation: 30 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the fairway spot right in between the two bunkers. The spot is about 230 yards from the tee. This will leave you with an easy approach shot with a slight downward elevation. If you go for this spot, just make sure to take off a yard or two. Shortcut: If you have alot of power (and i mean 305+ yards) you can try going for the green. It will not be easy, and you could end up in the rough, but give it a shot if you got a set of balls. The good news is you might bounce out of the rough if you undershoot. Worst case scenario, you will have a short chip shot out of the rough. Long Tee: Forget the shortcut, you probably can't reach the green now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 4 Yards: 378 Yards LYards: 405 Yards Elevation: 3.2 Yards down to the hole General: Aim it right down the fairway. If you want, knock it off the cement patio to get some extra yards. Don't get too cute though if you don't think you can make it. Make sure to compensate for the elevation if you have some on your approach shot. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 528 Yards LYards: 579 Yards Elevation: 16 Yards down to the hole General: Power up and knock it down the fairway as far as you can. Make sure you try to stay to the right side of the fairway. You do not want your ball rolling down the slope into the rough. Again, make sure you take off a few yards for the dip in elevation. This is another easy hole to reach in 2 so take advantage of it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 423 Yards LYards: 426 Yards Elevation: 29 Yards down to the hole General: Pretty simple, just knock it down the fairway. Now the closer you get to the hole, the lower the elevation will be. Make sure to make up for the dip in elevation depending on where you land. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 4 Yards: 412 Yards LYards: 426 Yards Elevation: 3.5 Yards down to the hole General: Hit it on the fairway over on the other side of the grand (okay maybe not grand) canyon of grass. A nice spot is to aim right in between the bunkers. If you cannot reach this spot, just aim farther to the right. The good thing about this spot is the elevation is almost flat. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 4 Yards: 346 Yards LYards: 363 Yards Elevation: 1.8 Yards down to the hole General: Depending on how much power you have is how you will attempt this hole. If you do not have alot you will have to aim to the right fairway and lay up a little. If you got the power, aim right for the green. Make sure to use some super backspin to get a high elevation. The last thing you want to do is hit a tree before you land. Hitting a tree isn't a good thing. Trust me. :) Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 3 Yards: 166 Yards LYards: 184 Yards Elevation: 6.0 Yards up to the hole General: You will have to add about 3-4 yards for the rise in elevation. The green is very small so I recommend you use super backspin. The green does slope to the right so make sure you aim a little left if you want a hole-in-one. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 5 Yards: 499 Yards LYards: 539 Yards Elevation: 10 Yards up to the hole General: Aim for the left side of the fairway. You can aim for the right fairway if you want, but you will have to go over water which I do not like doing. The good news is this hole is not too hard to eagle. Even if you have average power, you can still reach the green in 2. When you aim for the green, you will have about a 10 yard shot up to the green. So make sure you add 7-8 yards to reach the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 376 Yards LYards: 420 Yards Elevation: 20 Yards down to the hole General: Aim to the right side of the fairway. There is a nice big section about 250 yards from the tee. From here is a nice short approach shot to the hole. Make sure to lay off a few yards for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: Guess what the shortcut is. That’s right, just aim straight for the green. Now I know what you are thinking, I can drive it 300 yards and I can't even reach the bunker. But do you remember, you are shooting 20 yards downhill. So you can make the green. Make sure to use super backspin and go for the green. Avoid the bunker. Long Tee: Don't go for the green now. It is too far. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 404 Yards LYards: 462 Yards Elevation: 1.6 Yards up to the hole General: Aim for the fairway to the left. You will have to lay up a little bit so you don't land in the rough. You will have a good elevation shot up to the hole, but you will be using a short iron or a pitching wedge to the hole so don't add too many yards to the swing. If you have enough power you can knock it on the far fairway near a bunker to eliminate the elevation altogether. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 148 Yards LYards: 190 Yards Elevation: 12 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to take off 6-7 yards off your stroke for the dip in elevation. Be careful on this hole. You do not want to land in the water. Landing in the water can ruin your score or your hopes of winning a tournament. If you feel uncomfortable about reaching the hole try aiming to more of the center of the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 551 Yards LYards: 587 Yards Elevation: 12 Yards down to the hole General: Power up and hit it as far down the fairway as you can. The farther you can get down the fairway, the better your chances of getting an eagle. Now, when you go for the green, you will need to make sure to get around the net. If you did not get far enough down the fairway, you will have to lay it up near the green. If you made about it far enough, you can curve your shot to the right to get around the net and reach the green. Just so you know, it is possible to get under the net, I just don't recommend it because there is alot of risk. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Going for the eagle will be rough now. Curving around the net might not be an option anymore. Getting the ball under the net is your only play now, but it is very risky. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ OLIVE COAST (OLCO) Here we go. The courses are getting a little harder now. On a few of these holes you can hit the ball out of bounds so be careful on your drives. The scenery is beautiful so take it in (just don't hit the ball in the rough or sand to see it). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 360 Yards LYards: 388 Yards Elevation: 8.8 Yards down to the hole General: A nice place to drive the ball is about 240 yards out right before the bunker. It is safe and still offers a short approach shot to the green. Shortcut: Rabbit/Turtle Technique can reach the green in 1 shot. Long Tee: Rabbit/Turtle will be really hard to reach it in 1 shot. You better have 300+ power if you want to reach their safely. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 4 Yards: 395 Yards LYards: 414 Yards Elevation: 20 Yards down to the hole General: About 240 Yards out, right to the left of the bunker, is a nice patch of fairway to land on. Now if you decide to shoot there, you will have about a 10 yard drop approach to the hole. Make sure to shave off about 3 to 4 yards to make up the difference. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 3 Yards: 130 Yards LYards: 165 Yards Elevation: 10 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to undershoot about 3 or 4 yards to make up for the elevation. Also, be careful of the pin location. If it is near water or rough, do not be afraid to hit the ball slightly farther just to be safe. Shortcut: Okay this is not a shortcut but it is a different method. You can actually putt to the green since there is a cartpath in front of you. Depending on the hole location is when you want to use this. The link below shows how to do it. http://www.hotshotsgolf.com/index.php/topic,1970.0.html Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 5 Yards: 550 Yards LYards: 570 Yards Elevation: 26 Yards down to the hole General: About 280 Yards out is a nice spot to go for that is safe, but if you want to try and reach the green in 2, try to shoot the ball right between the bunker and the beach sand. Make sure to power up to go a little farther down the fairway. If you can drive far enough, you can be left with a high iron shot to the green for eagle. Shortcut: A very risk/reward shortcut is using the cartpath. The ball will travel so far and leave a really short approach shot for eagle. The big risk is you miss and your ball lands in the rough. You should be happy to get a birdie if that happens. Long Tee: Same as above. IMPORTANT INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This hole is perfect to max out your long drive. If you can drive to the cart path you can easily drive your ball 410 yards on the front tee and about 430 on the back tee! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 453 Yards LYards: 475 Yards Elevation: 17 Yards down to the hole General: About 260 yards out right before the sand on the left is a great place to drive too. Its right between the pillars so you should be safe aiming at that spot. The best thing about this spot is it leaves about a 160 approach shot that is almost level on elevation :) Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 436 Yards LYards: 467 Yards Elevation: 6.7 Yards down to the hole General: Shoot over the water onto the fairway right before the bunker. Make sure to not shoot the ball too far to the left part of the fairway or you might have a tree in your way to the green. If this happens, just put a little spin on the ball. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 4 Yards: 421 Yards LYards: 444 Yards Elevation: 14 Yards up to the hole General: Straight ahead of you about 290 Yards out is a OB marker in the rough. This is a nice area before it to aim for. Make sure to get more in the middle of the fairway to have a more direct shot to the hole (you don't want any obstacles in your way). Make sure to add 8 to 10 yards to your approach shot since it is very far up. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 5 Yards: 517 Yards LYards: 549 Yards Elevation: 26 Yards down to the hole General: Okay if you power up with an expert character, you can power over the rough since it is downhill to land safely in that nice patch of fairway about 290+ yards out. Now make sure to be careful on the pin location to the hole. If you undershoot too much you can land in the water. The elevation should be flat to the hole so use normal power. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Okay if you don't think you can make it over the rough you can either lay up before the fairway drops or you can try to play off the hill and let your ball roll down the fairway. Trying to roll down the hill is your best option but I would suggest trying it in training before you use it for the first time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 3 Yards: 181 Yards LYards: 199 Yards Elevation: 3.3 Yards down to the hole General: The elevation is almost nothing but you can lower your stroke a yard or two if possible. Make sure to but some backspin on this hole. If you don't, your ball can keep rolling into the rough or possibly the bunker. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 411 Yards LYards: 420 Yards Elevation: 12 Yards down to the hole General: Simple here, just shoot over the stadium onto the fairway. Now you should be left with a short approach shot up to the hole. Since you are probably going to use a wedge, don't adjust too much since your wedge already has good loft. Add an extra yard or two if you feel you want too. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 5 Yards: 546 Yards LYards: 567 Yards Elevation: 27 Yards down to the hole General: Okay your drive is not going to be easy. It is very easy to drive the ball into the rough if you are not careful. I realize the fairway is small between the bunker and building, but that is the spot you are aiming for. Try to aim a little to the right because the fairway does slope to the bunker. If you landed on the fairway, you should be able to power up and use an iron shot to the hole for eagle. Hopefully the elevation should be level so you won't have to make any adjustments. Shortcut: None. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 4 Yards: 431 Yards LYards: 444 Yards Elevation: 23 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the fairway over the water about 250 yards out. The spot is just to the right of the bunker. Also make sure to not drive too far because you are aiming downhill. After that you have a really short approach shot to the green. Shortcut: On the short tee it is possible to rabbit/turtle the ball onto the green. Not easy, but very possible. The good news is if you miss, you do not have to worry about going out of bounds. Long Tee: No shortcut here :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 4 Yards: 475 Yards LYards: 478 Yards Elevation: 31 Yards down to the hole General: I know aiming for that section in front of you looks tempting but do not do it. Its very easy for the ball to carom off the fairway into the bunker or even worse out of bounds. Aim a little to the right of the left bunker. If you have enough power, you can just shoot over it all together. When you land on the fairway, you should have a short shot to the green. Make sure to shorten up a little if you got some downward elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 3 Yards: 183 Yards LYards: 200 Yards Elevation: 3.7 Yards down to the hole General: Shorten up about 2 yards for the dip in elevation. Also use backspin so you don't end up undershooting into the out of bounds. Shortcut: None. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 433 Yards LYards: 451 Yards Elevation: 9.3 Yards up to the hole General: Okay you have two options to go about, you can either shoot right in front of you over the water and have a short high shot to the hole or you can shoot to the right 220 yards out to the left of the bunker and have level elevation. Its really up to you, but I usually tend to shoot near the bunker because the fairway over the water is a small area to hit with bad wind. Use whatever you feel comfortable with, but if you aim for the fairway over the water, make sure to add some yards to your swing for the increase in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 376 Yards LYards: 401 Yards Elevation: 23 Yards down to the hole General: Aim to the left fairway about 240 yards out. You can shorten up even more if you want because it will still leave a short shot to the green for birdie. The elevation shouldn't be much of a factor for most of the spots you land. Shortcut: With the right wind, you can power up to the green or get really close to landing on it. Or you can use the rabbit/turtle technique to definetly reach the green in 1 no matter what the condition is. Long Tee: You can still reach the green with a power up but you better have some good wind helping you. Rabbit/Turtle technique can still make it to the green. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 198 Yards LYards: 211 Yards Elevation: 5.7 Yards down to the hole General: Shorten up 2 to 3 yards for the drop in elevation. Make sure to nail the backspin shot here or you might have trouble sticking your ball to the green. Shortcut: None. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 563 Yards LYards: 577 Yards Elevation: 33 Yards down to the hole General: Okay a nice spot to aim for is just to the left of the building. You can drive the ball over the concrete, but even if you cannot, the ball will bounce nicely off the concrete onto the fairway :) This might leave you with a nice 200 yard shot to the green for eagle. The shot should be on the same elevation as well so you should be fine. Shortcut: None. Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MICHINUKU PASS (MICH) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: Par: Yards: LYards: Elevation: General: Shortcut: Long Tee: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *********************************************************************** SINGLE PLAYER CHALLENGE (SPCHAL) Right now I put it on the courses that you will play at each level. You can quickly get up to rank 5, but after that it will take some effort to get up higher. I have listed the ranks in order in which I received. RANK LEVEL _____________________________________________________________________ Golf Level 1 Golf Level 2 Golf Level 3 Golf Level 4 Golf Level 5 Golf Instructor Golf Coach Golf Elite Golf Master Golf Prince Golf King Golf Legend Golf Wizard Golf Superstar God of Golf _____________________________________________________________________ Requirements for the final two HSG ranks: Golf Superstar: Course 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 Reg T -11 -11 -10 -10 -9 -8 -7 -7 -7 -6 -5 -5 Back T -11 -11 -9 -9 -8 -7 -6 -6 -5 -5 -4 -4 God Of Golf: Course 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 Reg T -11 -11 -11 -11 -11 -10 -9 -9 -9 -8 -7 -7 Back T -11 -11 -11 -11 -10 -9 -8 -8 -7 -7 -6 -6 This has been verified on Minna No Golf Portable 2, which is the identical version of HSG Open Tee 2, released in Japan 6 months ago. These scores are for 9-hole game, the required scores are doubled for 18-hole game. For each course, play either regular tee or back tee. Once the required score is reached for either one, you are done for that course. You will be certified for that rank once you fulfill the required scores for all the twelve courses. On Japanese version of the game, you cannot jump from Golf Wizard to God Of Golf, even if you have met the score requirement for God Of Golf. In that case you will be certified for Golf Superstar. I am not sure of this situation for HSG Open Tee 2. Hope to see more US players and European players reach the rank of God Of Golf. One thing I forgot to mention to you is: For those required scores, it's only necessary to do any one of : 9 Hole Out Regular Tee, 9 Hole In Regular Tee, 9 Hole Out Long Tee, 9 Hole In Long Tee. Any one of the four will be sufficient for that course, whichever you prefer. SO TO FURTHER CLARIFY. IF YOU NEED -11 on the regular tee or -11 on the back. You need to do either -22 on 18 holes, -11 on the front or back (regular or long). NOT ALL 6. So just passing 1 requirement makes you all set for a course. CREDIT TO LI DONG FOR EMAILING ME THE CRITERIA FOR THESE RANKS. BIG HELP. When you play online, you start at rank g3 and you can build your way up. I don't know the conditions of ranking up because i got alot of wins. If anyone knows send me an email. You are not penalized for quitting an online game, except for it hurting your stats. Two people is all you need for the game to count towards your stats. RANK LEVEL GRADE EVALUATION _____________________________________________________________________ G3 Starting Rank G2 Grade Evaluation in 10 games G1 Grade Evaluation in 10 games G0 Grade Evaluation in 10 games _____________________________________________________________________ I am not exactly how sure you have to do in the 10 games, but it doesn't seem like it has to be that good. A win or should be good enough. Also, to stay at a g0 ranking, you need just a win to keep it each evaluation. ********************************************************************** HISTORY RANKINGS (HSRN) I have listed achievements that are recorded in your history data. This might not be a complete list, but it is a work in process. I have added items that I have unlocked so far. If you have any items I do not have, please feel free and email me and I will add them. Unlike Hot Shots Golf Out of Bounds, you are not penalized for quitting a tournament game. Also as a side note, you still receive two items if you win by 3 strokes or more. Okay so this really sucks too. You can pick items you have already selected. So sometimes you can win and get a prize and you will get nothing because you already have that item. Press once to start, then once more at the desired power lever. Take your favorite characters around the links and unlock their their true potential! 4) In Challenge Mode, work your way through the tournament circuit to earn the highest rank possible. Win tournaments to earn items (custom parts and gear). For Custom Parts earned in Challenge Mode, collect five cards for the same category to boost the Level of the corresponding custom part, which in turn boosts the Skill for that category for all characters. 5) Challenge Mode consists of Tournaments in which the player competes against a line-up of virtual golfers, and Match Play consists of one-to-one matches. Have a go at Challenge Mode, you'll be surprised by the items you unlock! 6) In Challenge Mode, VS Mode only appears after a certain number of cards (the number depends on the rank) and are obtained by winning Tournaments and Match Play games. If you defeat a character in VS Mode you'll be able to pick that character! 7) Characters can be customized using the various custom parts earned in the various modes. A greater selection of custom parts allows players to customize their characters more than ever before. It is even possible to select the physique of each character! 8) The abilities of characters can be augmented by obtaining custom parts in Challenge Mode by winning tournaments in Challenge Mode. Each category affects abilities as follows: Head = Control Body = Power (distance) Accessory = Spin 9) Some tournaments in Challenge Mode have special rules such as "Bunker +2". Be sure to note any special rules before joining a tournament. 10) To exceed Golf Level 5, achieve favorable scores on multiple courses. Keep trying different courses, and you will eventually find the way. 11) Did you slip up when you hit the Power Gauge? Remember, you can press the Triangle or O button for a correction. Press the O button during impact to slightly weaken the shot. Press the Triangle button during impact to slightly strengthen the shot. 12) The minigame feature in this installment of the series is a 9-hole, hole-in-one game! Sink the ball into one of the multiple cups to earn points corresponding to that cup and rack up a cumulative score. Also, look out for hidden double-scoring Lucky Cups. Try your luck, and go for a super score! 13) Minigame tip: Sink the ball in the highest-scoring cup, and one new cup will appear on that hole the next round. Try to unlock all of the cups: each hole has a maximum of 5. With success, the final hole will have a secret in store for you. 14) Receive commemorative presents for notable achievements made during the game. These historic moments are also recorded in the History section of Data, so that they may be enjoyed again and again. 15) There is a Novice, Intermediate, and Expert version of each club. Novice characters can only use novice clubs, so be sure to note the class of new clubs. Balls, on the other hand, are universal and not divided into classes. 16) In Power Mode, try pressing the Triangle button the moment the club hits the ball. With the proper timing, an extra Power Mode stroke will be earned. Give it a try! There is no penalty for missing. 17) When powerful spin is needed, try the following for Super Backspin, Super Topspin, or Super Sidespin. Press the up, down, left, or right button when determining power, then press the opposite direction at perfect impact timing. Impact timing must be perfect to work! 18) Use the same character repeatedly to earn Loyalty. Added Loyalty will improve that character in many ways. Go all the way with your favorite character! 19) The ad hoc mode in HSGOT allows friends to compete closely with PSP wireless LAN. The personal dressings and characters' loyalties can be the key to determine who is winning the tourney, and share your techniques of the courses. 20) When there are 2 players you can hold a match play. You can see how your opponent do his/her shot, and interrupt if you like to. You may also use rules (like point decision) to make the battle more intense. 21) Haven't got this one yet 22) Welcome to the online world of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 Select the Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 Infrastructure mode to use the system's wireless (WLAN) feature to compete with golfers across the globe. Remember, golf is a game of respect and sportsmanship! 23) Have you ever wanted to talk to other players while making the rounds? Try using quick comments. Press the square button during the ranking display. Select a word or phrase from the list to send a comment to opponents. 24) Gradings are score-dependent. After specific rounds, there will be a grading check. The better tournament result and better scores will be upgraded (MAX G0), and vice versa, and you may remain the same grading. 25) There are more ways to obtain items than winning a competition. Some items are found hidden on the actual golf course, so you may want to explore some out-of-the-way locations. 26) In the previous installment, only one accessory could be selected per character. But this time, up to two can be equipped at once! Take advantage of the extra choices and create your own unique look. 27) To catch more air with the 1W, press the Square button one more time to activate the blue flame full power mode. However, this mode has a weak point: it's unclear in power mode how far the ball will fly. Use with caution! 28) If the ball hits the pin after a successful super spin command, it will come back towards the pin as a Homing Ball, climb up the pin as a Rising Ball, or spin down the pin as a Spiral Ball. Impress your friends with these incredible feats! 29) South Alps C.C. Screenshot 30) Nakagawa Public G.C. Screenshot 31) Autumn Pagoda G.C. Test your skills and break your own best records! ********************************************************************** CHEATS, TIPS, AND GLITCHES (CHEAT) Building Loyalty Easy - An easy way to build loyalty is to just play a quick vs. match game and quit out each hole. After 3 holes you give up and you build loyalty for doing this. It doesn't add alot when your levels get higher, but sometimes it helps when you are a sliver away from getting to the next level. Get back your power shot - When you take a power shot, you can get it back. After your swing, if you press the triangle button at the moment your club hits the ball, you can get a power shot. Loyalty must be at level 5 to unlock this. Sometimes while playing as Mizuho, it will automatically switch to her twin sister (Mizuki). Mizuki has a completely different personality from Mizuho - it is sometimes interpreted as Mizuho having a split personality. That is not the case, she just has an alternate hidden character. Credit to Un1K3n for that. ********************************************************************** VERSION DIFFERENCES (VRSN) All this information was submitted in by Warthog 2k. Oh, just thought of another thing - on the Euro version (EG2) all non-putting distances are measured in Yards, but all putting distances are in Meters (which is probably where the weird meters/feet bug you mentioned came from). It appears that they've gone for different "Golf Level" names again too: Golf Level 1 Golf Level 1 Golf Level 2 Golf Level 2 Golf Level 3 Golf Level 3 Golf Level 4 Golf Level 4 Golf Level 5 Golf Level 5 Golf Instructor Golf Instructor Golf Coach Golf Coach Golf Elite Golf Elite Golf Master Golf Master Golf Prince Golf Legend Golf King Golf Angel Golf Legend Golf Deity Golf Wizard Golf Wizard Golf Superstar ? God of Golf ? Here's the comparison: Hot Shots Golf = Everybody's Golf Mika = Yumeri Rio = Shin Alia = Mew Shu = Toshizo Julie = Sagiri C.J. = Jean Patricia = Catherine Logan = Aaron Holly = Angela Roger = Britz Gloria As far as I know Gloria never appeared in EG1, so must assume that she's new to EG2 and so named the same (I'll let you know once I've gotten round to unlocking her) ********************************************************************** CHECKLIST (CHECK) This list is a complete checklist of every offline item you can receive in the game. Vysion_of_books - For correcting me on what was needed to get C.J., alot of grammar corrections, info on why people might have trouble finding and recruiting certain characters (VERY USEFUL I THINK), adding more loyalty information, adding on to the special shots information, how you select the different specialty clubs, and adding in the comment about needing a loyalty level of 5 in the cheats section for Power Shot Recovery. Thank you for also looking at my Q & A section and making sure I used the right grammar. Contributed to find alternate designs of clubs, you need the club of that skill level unlocked first.
