There’s a new PUBG Xbox update ready in your queue, waiting to be downloaded. Though the August 7 hotfix is slightly bulkier than you might expect from a quick patch, there’s a very good reason for it: PUBG Corp. has made sure Analog Control Movement, its new traversal feature, has been polished, as well as the game undergoing big changes to improve loading.
PUBG Xbox Update: What’s Changed in the August 7 Hotfix?
There are only two points of contact that the PUBG Xbox update has covered this time around, but they both drastically change how the game runs, in more ways than one. There’s literal running: sprinting diagonally has now been improved exponentially after it was previously only effective in straight lines. You can now sprint at a “wider angle” which should make life much easier for those on the go.
Most importantly, however, are the changes to the technical side of things. Files now load far more efficiency meaning, in theory, the game on Xbox One will run as well as it ever has on console. While it may not retain parity with its PC brethren, Bluepoint Games and PUBG Corp has undoubtedly worked tirelessly over the past few months to bring the game up to scratch.
PUBG Xbox Update Full Patch Notes:
If you’re reading this, the hotfix is already out. Here are the full patch notes via the PUBG forums:
Analog Character Movement
- With the previous hotfix which introduced analog movement, sprinting diagonally using L-stick became much more difficult. To address this, we’ve widened the angle of movement for sprinting diagonally. Now the character will be able to sprint at a wider angle before having their speed reduced. Sudden hard changes in direction will still slow the player down (as it will break your tendons in real life).
Loading
- Files have been repackaged to load more efficiently. Now, the time it takes to load into a game will be quicker. After our previous hotfix, players had reported experiencing a number of issues while trying to load into matches and this hotfix addresses those issues.
- Because we’ve repackaged the files to improve load times, the patch size will be quite large, despite this being a hotfix. We will continue to work on desync, sound issues and of course continue fixing bugs as well.
