Rockstar Games’ much-anticipated western sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 is releasing on Xbox One and PS4 shortly. We’ve already taken a look at whether or not the game will ever release on PC, but today we’ll be discussing a potential Switch port. Will we ever see Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch? If not, why not?
Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch: Is it Coming to Nintendo Switch?
Rockstar Games has never given any indication whether or not Red Dead Redemption 2 will come to Nintendo Switch. As of writing, there has been no official word one way or another. With the release date coming up (October 26, 2018) fast, the fact that there has been no indication of a potential port has to mean that it simply isn’t very likely. Despite this, there might just be a chance of a Switch release of the new cowboy game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch: Will it Ever Come to Nintendo Switch?
While there has been no word on a potential port, there might just be a little bit of hope for Red Dead Redemption 2 eventually making its way onto Switch. Rockstar has released a game on Switch, and have indicated that they are fans of the console. LA Noire released on Switch alongside PS4, Xbox One, and PC last November. Despite this, however, that was a port of an old game. Red Dead Redemption 2 may simply not be able to run on the Switch. The graphics are incredibly detailed, and the game’s world is very large. While the Switch has ports of DOOM, Wolfenstein 2, and Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption 2 might be a step too far.
The truth is, we’ll never know whether or not Red Dead Redemption 2 could find its way onto Switch. Without an official word from Rockstar, no one could ever know. There is a market for the more “mature” games on Switch, but the graphics may simply be too intense for the hybrid machine to handle. A port of Red Dead Redemption could well happen, however. Keep those fingers crossed.
