Pokemon Lets Go New Moves: What Are Pikachu’s New Moves?

Alongside all of the other new features revealed so far for Pokemon Lets Go, new moves for Pikachu have been announced. Pikachu is the eponymous mascot for one of the two upcoming Nintendo Switch Pokemon titles, and its third brand new and exclusive move was revealed over the weekend. Here’s a guide to Pikachu’s new moves in Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!

Pokemon Lets Go New Moves: What Are Pikachu’s New Moves?

Fans already knew about two of Pikachu’s new moves—Pika Papow and Splishy Splash. Splishy Splash is particularly interesting, as it’s a Water-type move that uses Pikachu’s electric typing to gain a chance to paralyze the opponent.

However, a third move—which is also alliterated, of course—has now been revealed in a tweet by the official Pokemon Twitter page. The tweet reads as follows:

Hey you, ! Check out this sneak peek at one of Pikachu’s exclusive moves: Floaty Fall! Don’t let the name confuse you—this attack packs a punch!

For Pikachu’s newest exclusive move, Floaty Fall, it is lifted high up into the air by five balloons. It then pops these balloons with an electrical charge and attacks the opponent from above. Interestingly, this attack seems to be a Flying-type move, as in the video from the official Pokemon Twitter page, it is seen to be super-effective against Metapod, who is a Grass-type Pokemon.

This means that Pikachu will have access to a Water-type move and a Flying-type move in the Pokemon Let’s Go titles. It has also been confirmed that the starter Pokemon in these titles will be substantially stronger than regular Pikachus and Eevees that can be found in-game, so Pikachu’s access to new moves is very significant in relation to its viability as a full-game companion for the upcoming titles.

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! is set to be released alongside Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee for the Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.
