Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes Update (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4)

Following developer Epic Games’ now traditional Twitter tease, the new Fortnite 6.10 patch notes update has been published alongside the launch of the new patch. (Those on PS4 will know this as the Fortnite 1.85 patch notes update, which is basically the same thing, just with a different version number for the Sony system.) One of the biggest features included in the 6.10 patch is the Fortnite Quadcrasher vehicle, which has the power to ram down structures! Implementation of the latest Fortnite update does, unfortunately, demand a downtime period, which usually means players will be unable to play for about an hour or two.

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – New Quadcrasher Vehicle

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

A big highlight of the Fortnite 6.10 patch notes (1.85 on PS4) is the Quadcrasher vehicle, which has been previously teased with the following “Coming soon!” description: “Charge the boost to crash through structures or get some air!”

Yep, the Quadcrasher is able to destroy structures! This could make for quite the surprise entrance against enemy players. Imagine a full squad of Quadcrasher users boosting through a fortified building. That sounds epic to me!

The history of vehicles within Fortnite is full of glitches and constant tweaks, so we’ll have to wait and see how this performs in-game. Epic Games has been known to repeatedly pull both the existing shopping cart and ATK out of the game to be fixed. Here’s hoping the Quadcrasher doesn’t suffer the same fate, with the developer spotting and solving any problems prior to its release.

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – In-Game Tournaments

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

Another big feature introduced with the Fortnite 6.10 patch (1.85) is in-game tournaments. Found within the new “Events” section of the in-game menu, these tournaments will be open to all players, providing everyone with a chance to compete.

In-game tournaments will be comprised of matches that take place at scheduled dates and times. All players begin with the same score and battle it out over several hours to earn as many points as possible. Points are awarded for achieving high placements in a round or by eliminating multiple opponents.

Interestingly, the in-game tournaments will incorporate ranked matchmaking to pair players with similar point standings. Though you may start off against tougher or weaker opponents, the difficulty should eventually balance out to match you with your equals.

A big factor here is the cross-play compatibility, as all players across all platforms will be placed within the same pool. Players will be matchmaking with all competitors, regardless of platform or input device. This could lead to some very ugly matchups of PC vs phone!

The first in-game tournament kicks off today, October 16, and runs through to October 21.

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – Guided Missile Returns

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

The Port-a-Fortress has experienced an early departure due to Epic Games needing to resolve some issues with the instant-fortress-spawning device!

To make up for the Port-a-Fortress’ absence, the Port-a-Fort drop rate has been temporarily increased from 3.05% to 4.89%.

Additional weapon fixes implemented by the Fortnite 6.10 (1.85) patch are detailed below. This includes the return of the guided missile!

  • Guided Missile no longer fires the wrong direction
  • Players will no longer permanently attach to a Supply Drop when grappling to it.
  • Attempting to fire while reloading the Double Barrel Shotgun will no longer interrupt the animation.
  • Weapon equip animations no longer skip when simultaneously attempting to sprint and target.

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – No Gifting System

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

Epic Games announced the Fortnite gifting system months ago, and we haven’t heard anything since. The ability to send skins, emotes, and other goodies to your fellow players is clearly wanted by the community.

Despite the rumors of a Fortnite gifting system being added in the 6.10 update, that sadly is not the case. There is absolutely no mention of gifts or gifting within the patch notes, and so players will have to wait even longer to send presents to their pals. Perhaps during the holiday season would be an appropriate ETA to expect it?

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – Bug Fixes

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

Though they are the least exciting bits of a new Fortnite update drop, bug fixes are still super important in keeping the game running smoothly and with as few hiccups as possible. Here are the latest bugs which have been squashed into oblivion!

  • The floating island no longer appears in the wrong location on the mini-map.
  • When a player is eliminated the audio used matches the audio used for rotating structures while in build mode. This can cause “strange” sounds to be heard when multiple players are being eliminated. This is no longer the case.
  • While loading in, players may notice an unrendered version of the  Starter Island appear for a short time, then be replaced with the loading screen again until the map fully renders. This is no longer the case.

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – Mobile Performance Boost

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

If you have an Android device that’s running Android 7.0 or earlier, then you’ll be happy to hear that Epic Games has rolled out “major performance improvements” to help aid your gameplay experience. Improvements to memory usage have also been rolled out for iOS devices.

Other changes to mobile include the first weapon now auto-equipping itself, touch control input now has smoothing enabled, and tapping selected buttons on the build quickbar will now build the selected piece. What’s more, the HUD layout tool has been spruced up with updated visuals, which should hopefully make things clearer.

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes (Fortnite 1.85 Patch Notes PS4) – Save the World

Fortnite 6.10 Patch Notes

Fortnite Save the World players are also receiving some love within the 6.10 patch notes (1.85)! Power level restrictions are now in place. This prevents low-level players from entering high-level public missions where they are unable to significantly contribute to the group. (This won’t affect private matches with friends, thankfully!)

The reward system has also been rebalanced in missions relative to the average length and difficulty of the mission types. This should help bring balance to the high-level mission types that can prove incredibly difficult to beat without bonus objectives.
