Red Dead Redemption 2 killer

Red Dead Redemption 2 Killer Clue Locations

In Red Dead Redemption 2 there is all manner of outlaws and murderers around, and you’ll probably be needing to lower your bounty yourself at some point or another. However, the worst things you can find in the game are the grisly murder scenes at three points around the map, which include clues to the location of the killer. We’re here to show you where to find all the Red Dead Redemption 2 Killer Clue locations, and how to hunt down the serial killer hiding in the game.

The Serial Killer side-mission can be found very near to the beginning of the game, in fact, you can find all of them after going to Valentine at the start of Chapter 2 if you so wish. The most important thing to realize is that the killer wants to be found, so all three clue locations will contain a map that points to where he’s hiding. However, they do not point to other murder scenes. You’ll have to find them by yourself… or use our guide!

Red Dead Redemption 2 Killer Clue Location 1

The first grisly murder scene can be found just south of Valentine, under the train tracks. Your map will pulse the location slightly, and there’ll be an ‘X’ on your map indicating a dead body. The road above and below the train tracks has blood sprayed on the grass, so you may spot that first when you’re passing. You can activate your tracking by clicking both thumbsticks, and follow the blood trail if you like.

Either way, head to the tracks at the point above and you’ll find a dismembered body tied to the tracks, with bits scattered everywhere. Nailed to the train tracks on the left side is the poor man’s head, with a piece of rolled paper jammed in its mouth. It won’t mean anything at this stage, but this is the first part of a map to the killer’s location.

Now head down the road directly east of Valentine to the next murder spot, in the area above just next to the Dakota River, just south of Wallace Station. You’ll find some more bloody remains by the road. Follow the trail of blood (use your tracker vision if you’re having difficulty) and you’ll find a large rock with another dismembered corpse tied across it. Once again the head has been severed and has the next killer clue map stuffed in its mouth. It’s on a smaller rock near the torso.

The third and final Killer Clue Piece is a little further away, just south of Rhodes. You’ll visit around this area in Chapter 3, but if you want to complete this mystery in Chapter 2 then it’s probably best to use Fast Travel and take the train from Wallace Station to Rhodes, then ride to the area above next to Braithwaite Manor.

There’s another pool of blood in the area above by the roadside, so once again follow the trail to the corpse. This one’s been tied to a tree in a similar macabre fashion. The head is on the other side of the tree, stuck on top of a spiky branch. The third and final Killer Clue Piece, and the last part of the map is once more in the victim’s mouth. Now you can put the whole thing together and catch the monster.

Where to Find the Serial Killer

Now that the map is complete, a Stranger side mission quest marker will appear on the area west of Valentine called Lucky’s Cabin. Head there, and you’ll need to use the safe combination clue on the map to enter the basement of the cabin. Have a look around, maybe with your lantern equipped (check your weapons menu), and once you investigate the knife in the center you’ll be attacked.

Defend yourself and knock out the killer, hogtie him, and take him back to the local sheriff, as the game tells you to. The killer will attack the sheriff, but just aim your gun at him and he’ll back off. You can now complete the quest and claim your reward: $20. We personally think our work was worth more than that, but what do we know?
