The RDR2 feral man is a random encounter in Red Dead Redemption 2. If the moon is full, there is a chance for the player to hear someone, or something, howling like a wolf—or a werewolf.
If the player follows the sound, they’ll come across what the game refers to as the feral man. The RDR2 feral man is naked and is accompanied by a wolf that will attack the player on sight. It’s important to note that this encounter can only happen at night and only if the moon is full. Otherwise, the feral man’s cave will be mostly empty.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Werewolf – RDR2 Feral Man Location
If you approach the RDR2 feral man, he’ll instantly flee. After dealing with his wolf, you can follow him back to his cave, which is located by the river in Roanoke Valley (marked on your map). There are more wolves inside, although these ones aren’t quite as big as the one from earlier. The RDR2 feral man will repeatedly shout at the player, asking them to leave.
After you incapacitate all of the grey wolves, the feral man won’t attack. He has nowhere else to run, either, so he’ll just sort of lie on the ground, wailing. However, if you attempt to read his diary he’ll become violent.
The RDR2 feral man isn’t half as much of a threat as his wolf friends, so you can easily disarm him, effectively rendering him helpless. You can kill him if you want, but there’s no real reason to. It’s probably best to just leave him be, as he isn’t harming anybody and after reading his diary you’ll likely feel sorry for him.
It is unknown at present as to what exactly happened to the feral man, although it seems to be subtly implied that he has contracted some kind of lycanthropy. An Undead Nightmare 2 tease, perhaps?
