There’s a bug going around that is causing some players to experience a Red Dead Redemption 2 loading screen crash. The issue only appears to have plagued a few people but, when you consider that Red Dead 2‘s fanbase is huge, that number could be pretty big. Here’s how to fix the problem if you’ve been affected by it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Loading Screen Crash – What’s the Problem?
Some players are getting stuck on the game’s loading screen when they try to load their save file. You’ll know if you’ve been affected by the bug if the revolver indicator, which can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, is continually looping and not loading your game correctly.
Be aware that it takes a good minute or so for the game to load up, so don’t fret if you aren’t thrown straight into your save file. If you’re sitting there still waiting after two minutes or longer, you may want to see our fix below on how to resolve the problem.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Loading Screen Crash – How to Fix it
There’s a way to combat this issue, according to one Redittor. Press the start button on your controller. This is the “menu” button on the Xbox One controller, and “options” button on the PS4 gamepad. This will bring up an invisible pause menu.
Next, press up three times on the D-pad, tap the “A” or “X” button on Xbox One or PS4 respectively, press right on the D-pad, and then tap “A” or “X” again. This should take you to the “Load save game” menu, and let you try and load your file again.
For future reference, make sure that you have two or more save files for your play through. It could be that one gets corrupted and you can’t load that file. Having a second one as a back up is always handy for situations like this, and you’ll be kicking yourself if you have to start all over again if you only have one save file.
