Fallout 76 legendary weapons are more powerful, have unique effects, and some are one-of-a-kind rewards from quests or events. There are two kinds of legendary weapons in Fallout 76—exceptional weapons, and weapons with legendary effects.
Exceptional weapons are weapons with unique names. These weapons are usually obtained from quests, events, or purchased from vendors. They are usually variants of standard weapons, but with special bonus effects, models, and names.
Weapons with legendary effects are sometimes dropped by enemies that have at least one star next to their name. These legendary effects grant weapons special abilities, and add a prefix to the weapon’s name indicating the bonus.
