So, how about that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 reveal, eh? The threequel to the ever-popular squad-based superhero series has been announced as a Switch exclusive, disappointing many. But things can always change. How likely are we to see a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 PS4 version or even being able to team-up with the likes of Spidey and Wolverine on Xbox One? Below, we’ll take a look at whether a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 PS4 and Xbox One release is possible.
Is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 a Switch Exclusive?
“Exclusively on Nintendo Switch. 2019.” The trailer is pretty clear-cut about whether Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is going anywhere else except the Nintendo Switch. On the face of it, it seems like a big fat, Hulk-sized no. We haven’t heard anything to the contrary, so it appears that this is very much going to be a Switch exclusive, despite being backed by a huge property in Marvel. It worked for Spider-Man PS4, after all.
Will Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Release on PS4 and Xbox One?
As platform exclusives become less and less important and boundaries are blurred- I mean, Joker from Persona 5 is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now- there is always a distinct possibility of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 PS4 or Xbox One coming our way. In fact, the wording of the “2019” trailer quote above not only hints at a vague release window, but also the distinct possibility of a timed exclusive deal being put in place.
Rise of the Tomb Raider, for example, came to PS4 a year after its original “exclusive” 2015 release. Besides, it feels like Activision would be leaving a fair bit of money on the table by excluding PS4 and Xbox One owners, especially the latter due to its larger owner base.
For now, though, we’ll have to wait and see. Uncertainty remains over a potential 2020 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 PS4 and Xbox One release but, one this is for certain: the Nintendo Switch will be the first place you can play the game and, as of writing, the only place in 2019.
