Mortal Kombat 11, the latest game in the legendary fighting series, just got a big gameplay reveal today, with a beta release in a couple of months and a PC and console release date a month after that. But what about the Nintendo Switch version of the game? Is it coming to Nintendo’s latest console, and is there a Mortal Kombat 11 Switch release date? Will it release later than the other versions or at the same time? Is there a Switch beta? We’ve got the answers.
What is the Mortal Kombat 11 Nintendo Switch release date?
When Mortal Kombat 11 was announced at the Game Awards last month, it was confirmed that, for the first time in NetherRealm’s history (we believe), a Mortal Kombat game would launch on four platforms simultaneously. That’s Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. For once, the Switch release will not be staggered or delayed, and the version for Nintendo’s console will be available the same time as the other three versions: on April 23 2019. That is very good news indeed, even if it’s still a few months’ away.
Is there a Mortal Kombat 11 Switch Beta?
The beta for Mortal Kombat 11 is due a month before the April release on March 28. However, the bad news is it will only be for two out of the four platforms supported. The beta will launch on PS4 and Xbox One in March, so unfortunately PC and Nintendo Switch owners will not be able to participate in the beta.
At the moment, the only way to get access to the beta is if you pre-order the game on PS4 or Xbox One via select retailers, and doing so will also get you access to Shao Kahn as a pre-order DLC character. Switch and PC customers can still get Shao Kahn if they pre-order, but not the beta unfortunately. You’ll just have to wait for the final game release, we’re afraid.
