If you’re playing through Days Gone, then you’re probably already familiar enough with the Freakers, the zombified enemies that make up the main horde in Sony’s latest PlayStation 4 exclusive. As you dive deeper into the game and explore more of Oregon, you’re going to come across some challenges. These challenges can be made easier by learning how to increase stats, which will make Deacon St. John stronger and better overall.
In this handy guide we will explore the three core stats, talk about what they do, as well as touch on everything else you need to know to increase stats in Days Gone. So, grab your shotgun, hop on your bike, and let’s get started.
How to Increase Stats in Days Gone
While you’ll always be able to find new weapons and items like crafting recipes in Days Gone, learning how to increase your stats early on will be vital to surviving the more dangerous missions that Deacon St. John will encounter on his journey. There are three core stats for players to worry about. These stats include Focus, Health, and Stamina.
The way that you increase stats in Days Gone is a bit tricky, as it requires you to find collectible items called Nero Injectors. These items are hidden throughout the world in Nero Research Stations and Nero Checkpoints, which means you’re going to need to do a bit of exploring to find all of them. Thankfully, we’ve already put together a guide on how to get Nero Injectors, so make sure you check that out for more information on the injectors themselves.
When you’ve obtained the Nero Injectors, you can use them to permanently increase one of the core stats that we mentioned above. But which stat should you increase first? Well that all depends on how you want to play the game.
Which Stat Should I Increase? Health, Focus, or Stamina?
Players will find a total of thirty Nero Injectors hidden throughout the map in Days Gone. Collecting each of these Nero Injectors won’t be easy. Some are hidden in secret points of interest, while others are guarded by heavily armed enemies. Because of this, players will want to prioritize how they increase their basic stats, as this will determine Deacon’s rates of survival depending on your playstyle.
If you prefer having plenty of extra health for whatever situation comes your way, then increasing your Health stat should be important to you. More of a fan of being able to escape easily? You’ll want to make sure you’re putting points into your Stamina. Finally, using Nero Injectors to increase your Focus stat will give you the ability to use slow motion aim for a more precise attack against both human and Freaker enemies.
You can increase each of your base stats a total of ten times, which means you’ll need to collect all thirty Nero Injectors if you want to completely max out your various stats. Keep in mind that this will take time, though, so it’s always a good idea to break off and spend a little time clearing out Nero Checkpoints or Nero Research Stations if you feel like you’re hitting roadblocks on your journey.
One of the easiest ways to find the various Nero Checkpoints and research stations situated around the map is to make sure you clear out every Ambush Camp location that you can find in Days Gone. There is a total of fourteen Ambush Camp locations hidden around the map, so make sure you check out our guide on how to find all Ambush Camp locations if you’re having trouble finding them. Completing these world events will mark other icons and points of interest on your map, which can be key to exploring in Days Gone.
Now that you know how to increase stats like Focus, Health, and Stamina, you can dive right back into the action and start upgrading Deacon St. John’s effectiveness. Of course, there are plenty of other things you need to do in Days Gone, so make sure you keep an eye out for other secrets as you play.
