With the launch of an expansion as big as Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, Bungie has lots to do in preparation. Shadowkeep will introduce Nightfall changes and dungeons and will add the new Armor 2.0 customization system across all accounts, regardless of whether or not a player owns Shadowkeep. As such, today’s server maintenance is much longer than usual.

Bungie shut down Destiny 2 servers at 12:45 PM ET on Monday, September 30. Barring any unforeseen roadblocks, servers should go live at 1 PM ET Tuesday, October 1. At that time, Destiny 2 Update 2.6.0.1, which introduces the aforementioned universal Shadowkeep changes, will become available for installation. During the day-long scheduled downtime, players will not be able to log into Destiny 2 itself, Bungie.net, or the Destiny Companion app. Destiny 1 servers will also be inaccessible during this time.

Bungie advises that players may experience sign-in issues when the update becomes available, as the developers may still be conducting background maintenance. All maintenance is expected to be completed by 3 PM ET, after which Bungie advises players experiencing issues to restart their consoles and then report issues on the Destiny 2 help forum if they’re still having problems.

Bungie announced on Twitter that Destiny 2: Shadowkeep pre-loading has begun rolling out for Xbox One and PS4 users, so players on those consoles can help ensure they’re able to play the expansion as soon as possible by installing it as the Destiny 2 server maintenance progresses.
