Destiny 2 New Light brings a blast from the past in the form of three returning items. New Light introduces a new introductory mission that takes place in the Cosmodrome and is reminiscent of the first quest in the original Destiny. As part of the new mission, you can now get three very sentimental items in Destiny 2: the Khvostov 7G-02, the Arcadia Jumpship, and the Generalist Shell for your Ghost.
Unfortunately, pre-made characters won’t be able to participate in the New Light intro quest, which means you won’t be able to get the leveling items the normal way. Never fear, Guardian, there are alternate ways to get these items in Destiny 2.
How to get the new leveling items in Destiny 2
There are three ways you can get the Khvostov in Destiny 2 along with the other two nostalgic items.
1. Play the Destiny 2 New Light Intro Mission
If you play the newly created intro mission introduced with Destiny 2 New Light, you’ll get the Khvostov Auto Rifle as part of the quest. Pretty simple concept unless you’ve got already got a character you want to play as.
Some players have said that the New Light quest appears on the Daily Heroic Mission playlist. I haven’t seen it there yet myself, but if that’s the case, you should be able to gather the Khvostov, Arcadia Jumpship, and Generalist Shell as part of the mission.
2. Take on the Risk/Reward quest from Banshee-44
Banshee-44 will offer a quest called “Risk/Reward,” when you speak to him in the tower. As part of the mission, you’ll need to head to the Cosmodrome and kill 3 Fallen Captains. As part of this objective, you’ll face down a walker. When the walker dies, you’ll get a chest containing one of the three items:
- Khvostov 7G-02
- Arcadia Class Jumpship
- Generalist Shell
Once you’ve got the first one, make sure you don’t leave. Instead, stick around for a minute or two, and the walker will respawn. Kill it again, and another chest will spawn. This chest should have another of the three items in it. Just rinse and repeat until you have all three.
3. Get them from collections.
I was able just to spawn a Khvostov 7G-02 from my collections tab. Others are saying that the Generalist Shell and Arcadia-class Jumpship are available from collections as well. However, they were greyed out for me.
By using one of the three methods above, you should be able to nostalgia out. At least for a minute before you realize these items aren’t that great, unfortunately. Hopefully, we’ll get the Khvostov 7G-0X added at some point so we can have the sweet looks with a bit more utility.
