If you’ve been operating in any video game circles recently you’ve probably heard all about surprise indie hit Disco Elysium. Developed and self-published on PC by ZA/UM, the game’s rave reviews may have you wondering about a Disco Elysium console release date so that you can get your hands on a copy for either Xbox One or PS4. Here’s what we know about the situation.
Is Disco Elysium coming to PS4?
This unique open-world RPG takes place across a city block and casts players as a detective. There’s a unique skill system to make use of as you encounter and interrogate a memorable cast of characters, opting to either play it straight or go crooked cop by accepting bribes. In the words of the creators themselves, it’s up to you whether you play the role of a “hero” or an “absolute disaster of a human being.”

Exciting as that may sound, to this point, the team at ZA/UM has unfortunately remained tight-lipped on a potential PlayStation 4 release for the game. Its overwhelmingly positive critical and commercial reception on PC has sparked an interest in the title on consoles that cannot be ignored, however, and with PS4 being the current market leader it seems likely that a port would at least be taken under consideration.
Is Disco Elysium coming to Xbox One?
There’s no word on a potential Xbox One version of Disco Elysium at this time either, unfortunately. With Microsoft’s purchase of inXile Entertainment and Obsidian Entertainment, however, there’s evidence pointing toward the fact that the US company wants more quality role-playing games on their platform moving forward.
Disco Elysium perfectly nestles into this particular niche, so it’s entirely possible that the current buzz surrounding the game has attracted the attention of Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer. That’s nothing more than speculation for now, of course, but just goes to show that console players shouldn’t rule out the possibility of playing Disco Elysium on their platform of choice at some point in the future.
