Disco Elysium 2 Release Date

Disco Elysium 2 Release Date: PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch

A Disco Elysium 2 release date is on the way, but little is known about it. What platforms it’ll be on, the setting, and the characters are all up in the air. However, we can make some educated guesses on some aspects of the game and when we might see it come to fruition.

What is the Disco Elysium 2 release date?

Disco Elysium gameplay

There’s no official release date for Disco Elysium 2, but we hypothesize that 2023 is likely the earliest it’ll launch. The original game took three years to develop, and development in earnest likely didn’t start on the second title until after Disco Elysium: The Final Cut was released in March 2021.

We do know from an interview with GamingBolt that ZA/UM intends to do more with the Disco Elysium universe. The publication quoted lead writer Helen Hindpere as saying:

“The future holds more of Elysium – we’ve spent years designing the world and we’re not ready to leave yet. Martinaise is just a slice of Revachol – and Revachol just a single capital among many others. Who knows where the future will take us?”

According to the creator of the Elysium universe, Robert Kurvitz, roughly six thousand years of in-world history have been sketched out, so there’s plenty of material available for a future sequel or prequel. However, it’s doubtful we’d see Harry or Kim return. The whole amnesiac detective hook of the original would be impossible to duplicate, and it’s likely we’d see another narrative device used in the second game. The Inner Thought system was a big hallmark of the original, and the developers would likely use it in a different way in Disco Elysium 2.

What platforms will it be on?

We’d anticipate Disco Elysium 2 to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, since it will likely have low hardware requirements, we might see it release on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch as well.
