Death Stranding how to dismantle structure

How to dismantle a structure in Death Stranding and free chiral bandwidth

So, you build that bridge in the wrong place, and now you want it gone, or you’re out of chiral bandwidth. Well, dismantling a structure in Death Stranding isn’t too hard, but there are some stipulations to it that you’ll need to keep in mind.

How do you dismantle a structure in Death Stranding and free up chiral bandwidth

Death Stranding Dismantle Structure Map

There are two ways that you can dismantle a structure in Death Stranding. The first method applies to both your structures and those build by other players. To dismantle any structure, follow these instructions:

  • Get close to the structure.
  • When prompted, hold the Options button to access the Structure Menu.
  • Choose the “Dismantle Structure” option.

Depending on whether or not the structure was built by you, there’ll be one of two outcomes:

  1. If the structure is another player’s, no chiral bandwidth will be restored, and it will be removed from your world only.
  2. If the structure is one you made, chiral bandwidth will be freed up, and it will be removed from both your world and those of other players.

You also have the option of dismantling structures from long-distance if you built them. To do this:

  • Open the map.
  • Hover over your structure, and hold Triangle.
  • When the prompt appears, select “OK.”

It takes a whole lot of building to reach the chiral bandwidth limit. However, if you’re like me and you create a vast array of ziplines, you’ll likely find yourself up against the limit eventually. My bandwidth maxed out at 41,220 in the Central Region, and at 500 a pop, you’ll only be able to build 82 ziplines. Fortunately, each region has its own chiral bandwidth limit, so you don’t have to worry about stuff on another map. Dismantling structures will restore your chiral bandwidth, and by the time you’re done with the story, there’s likely quite a few you’ll no longer have use for.
