The newest Call of Duty: WW2 update version 1.25 was released on January 7, 2020. The patch weighs in around 2 GB on consoles and almost 5 GB on PC. With a file size that large, players might expect the usual set of balance adjustments and gameplay tweaks. As it turns out, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Here are the full patch notes for the Call of Duty: WW2 update version 1.25 as featured on the PlayStation 4:

  • Various bugs have been fixed.

Not much to go on, right? Thankfully, the team at Sledgehammer Games has provided some insight as to what the COD WW2 update 1.25 is actually meant to address: Compliance with state law.

It’s so far unclear exactly what this sort of state law compliance entails. Also unclear is why this compliance would need between two and five gigabytes worth of data to address. Some players postulate that textures or other assets had to be changed — likely as an explanation for the update’s download size — but we could find no evidence that such is the case.

Either way, the Call of Duty: WW2 update 1.25 is available for download right now. Considering the game is over two years old at this rate, it’s at least nice to know the developers are still supporting their latest World War 2-themed release.
