Acclaimed developer Platinum Games’ The Wonderful 101 was a cult hit when it first launched exclusively on Wii U. Back then it was published by Nintendo, but now, almost seven years later, Platinum is remastering the game for multiple platforms and relaunching it with the help of generous fans on Kickstarter. Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), and PS4 versions have already been successfully crowdfunded, though where do we stand on a potential The Wonderful 101: Remastered Xbox One version?
Is The Wonderful 101: Remastered coming to Xbox One?
At the time of writing, The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter has amassed over $1 million in less than 24 hours. Clearly there’s a ravenous appetite for the game, though, unfortunately, it looks like Xbox fans are being left out in the cold.
ALSO: Daemon x Machina is coming to PC surprisingly soon
There’s no mention of an Xbox One release for The Wonderful 101: Remastered on the Kickstarter campaign page. Although Platinum hasn’t outright stated that there won’t be an Xbox version, in this instance, the lack of any information is likely indicative that there are currently no plans to bring The Wonderful 101: Remastered to Xbox One.
That’s a real shame for fans of Microsoft’s often maligned platform, but, with the crowdfunding effort having already exceeded its base goal by more than 2,000% at the time of writing, it’s possible that additional stretch goals could be added. This isn’t out of the ordinary where Kickstarter success stories are concerned, so who’s to say that an Xbox One version of The Wonderful 101: Remastered couldn’t be added as a further incentive somewhere down the line.
Currently, the stretch goals are as follows:
The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter stretch goals
- $50,000 — Nintendo Switch version
- $250,000 — PC (Steam) version
- $500,000 — PlayStation 4 version
- $1 million — Time Attack, “A speedrunner’s dream!”
- $1.5 million — Luka’s First Mission, “A brand new 2D side-scrolling adventure starring a young hero!”
With four of the available five already accomplished and a vast majority of the campaign’s 31-day duration left to play out, it’s possible that Platinum will choose to invest any surplus funds into developing The Wonderful 101: Remastered for Xbox One.
