How to fix the Modern Warfare Rank Reset error

After downloading the new Modern Warfare update, some players are encountering a “Rank Reset” pop-up when first loading into the game. That can be pretty frightening, naturally, but there’s actually no reason to worry. Solving the issue takes basically no effort, as the message appears to be rearing its ugly head in error.

All that you need to do is select the “Continue” option when presented with the pop-up and then opt to enter the game’s multiplayer suite from the main menu. After doing so, you should immediately notice that (contrary to the warning message) your Modern Warfare stats, unlocks, and rank are actually safe and sound.

Confirmation of this comes straight from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward. The studio’s official Twitter account (@InfinityWard) shared the following tweet:

It’s incredibly fortunate that the error was a false flag, though it’s nonetheless concerning that inaccurate pop-ups are appearing for Modern Warfare players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One at all. Hopefully, in the future, no more in-game misinformation will occur and almost give players unfortunate enough to receive them heart attacks.
