A new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season is finally upon us. And even though there are new Operators, maps, modes, guns, skins, and more, you might be missing some stuff. Your may have noticed that your rank is not as high now. So why did your level reset in Modern Warfare?
Modern Warfare Level Reset | Why did my battle pass rank reset?
If you’ve noticed that you’re now level 55 (or something lower) in Modern Warfare in this new season, do not fret. This is normal and will happen to almost everyone, given they have a high enough level. Each season resets you back to level 55 if you’ve gotten past that. For example, if you hit 155 in one season, you’re going to have to say goodbye to those 100 ranks. This applies to ranks over 55, too.
Players unlock ribbon challenges for every rank over 55 and those contribute to you battle pass since the XP you earn naturally does go toward that. But that only happens during a season and will reset with every new one.

Resetting to 55 is normal and should not worry you. Think of it as 55 being the max for the game but every season pushes that max up to 155. And then that resets for every season, at least so far. It may be disappointing to some, but it’s just more stuff to unlock and another few hits of dopamine.
This is normal, but the bug where your rank completely resets is not normal. This was happening a few days ago and you can read more about it here. It sounds like you may just have to reset your system and log back in, if this is still affecting people. However, if it is a more extreme problem, maybe contact Activision support.
