The Last of Us 2 Shambler enemy is something new for the sequel. But anything new also brings questions along with it. How do you kill it? Can you stealth kill The Last of Us 2 Shambler? Here’s what you should know about the new gas zombie. There are no spoilers in this guide.
The Last of Us 2 Shambler | How to kill it
The Shambler is like a hybrid of the Clicker and Bloater. Molotovs work well against as do tripwire bombs. These monsters tend to follow you so sprint ahead of them and lay a trap down to catch them. You can headshot them as well, which can be hard since there is so much fungus surrounding their top half. Just aim at the part with the eyes. You’ll know you got a headshot when the hit marker on the crosshair has multiple spikes.

You do want to keep moving but be careful where you’re going. These monsters can leave behind a gas cloud that can suffocate you and do damage over time. They do this when you get close so it is not wise to melee them. You might be able to do it if you have a melee weapon and if they are low on health.
However, they will grab you if you’re not careful and can easily damage you with their aforementioned gas clouds. Also they explode when they die so whatever you, don’t stick around after they kick the bucket or you might join them.
They’re pretty blind and can’t see your light but can sense you if you’re close. It’s a little inconsistent so it’s worth being careful.
The Last of Us 2 Shambler | Can you stealth kill it?
So can you kill the Shambler with a stealth kill? Ellie can stealth kill Clickers, after all. Sadly, the answer is no. You can’t shiv these bad guys to death. You’re either going to have to sneak past these jerks or shoot them with loud weaponry. A arrow or suppressed pistol shot to head won’t kill it either, at least on moderate difficulty and higher.
